Just got a spam email targeting #runbox users

The "Complete Here" link directs to: hxxps://catenacciovintage [dot] com/$RANDOM_ID

where $RANDOM_ID is a unique identifier

The email was received to an address I used specifically and SOLELY to sign up for ffmpeg's trac bug tracker; however I more suspect the user that "sent" this email had their gmail account compromised.

Ich habe mir #runbox und #mailfence angeschaut, weis zwar das der Datenschutz und Privatsphäre bei #runbox besser geschützt sind als bei #mailfence (Standort Belgien) aber ich muss sagen das Design von dem Webmailer ist echt grausig

Runbox E-mail is indeed a Norwegian company, outside Us Jurisdiction, but there is a catch. 👀

All their customers are in the United States (see URL).

The reason why they're outside Us Jurisdiction is that they have no direct offices of their own in the USA and as far as I can tell, they're not registered in the USA either. Instead, they're a customer, just like you or me, and choose to use those services they pay for, for everyone else's benefit. And as a customer, they can switch providers anytime they wish, just like you could.

That said, most people looking for a provider outside Us Jurisdiction, are also looking to escape the United States, geographically as well. Because while your e-mail is in the USA, the USA can peep in anytime they like.

Runbox - Email service consolidation and possible downtime:

Runbox are moving the remaining servers in the data center in Oslo.

On Monday, April 28 between 07:30 CEST (05:30 UTC, 01:30 EDT) and 9:30 CEST (07:30 UTC, 03:30 EDT) the remaining servers will be moved to the new area within the data center. Expect that the entire operation will take up to 30 minutes, during which the email service might be inaccessible for some users.

@ueeu Currently I am using google workspace for email. I use a #synology setup to backup my email. I am looking to move my email provider to probably #runbox but I want to keep backing up my email via synology. Anyone has any helpful insight? #daretoask
I can't use #tuta or #proton because the email clients need to be free of choice.

Every time I look at #mailbox providers, I get happier about my #Runbox.

I just gave a look at #Migadu, which was heavily recommended in some threads here. In 5 minutes I found 3 things I don't like:

1) No explicit pricing to get more storage space beyond the plan's default.

2) Says servers are "in France" but doesn't say with whom in the #privacy policy.

It seems good alternative to #proton hosted in #EU. Unfortunately no #ios app available that can replace all my demands. The default ios mail client is no go.
I have another one year till the end of my Proton paid plan. So, until then I will continue to follow whats new in #runbox blog

@vale I use #runbox with an email client since their website is not that pretty and no app. Works great!
