Sepia real photographic postcard showing a view of the town of Shoreham by Sea in Sussex as seen from the ferry.

Published by Winton's Library, 14 High Street, Shoreham, not numbered.

Postally used on 9 September 1912 with double circle Shoreham by Sea cancellation on green halfpenny stamp and sent to Mrs Lendon, 77 Kensington Avenue, Watford, Hertfordshire.

Very good condition, with very slight corner bumps.

Photo of a Grade 1 listed church founded c.1103, with much C12 structure remaining. Of Norman and Transitional style using stone, flint, and cobbles. The flying buttresses to the clerestorey are early examples of this structural technique. The funds for the building may have been sourced from the harbour taxes of that era. Church Street, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex, UK.

Right at the top of the tide this garden gnome standing on a post just about keeps his toes dry

#Shoreham #houseboats some of them rather stretch the definition of houseboat. And indeed that of house, and of boat.

A large barge converted into a house boat called “Rebus Stone”. The hull is black with bright red highlights. This was just about the only one out of 40 or so that looked seaworthy.

Houseboat or hippy art project? A fibreglass shell at the landward end looks like giant insect eyes, and the main body is a coach, still with wheels, sitting on the deck. Alas, “extinction rebellion” insignia.

A 1960s German minesweeper converted into a home. By far the biggest of all the houseboats, and now permanently stuck here as there’s no way it’s getting under the footbridge that has been built over the river a few hundred yards downstream.

This weekend we have a Lavender walk in Eynsford, plus a South Downs walk from Amberley to Shoreham, which in part walk along with our Amberley mini weekend away.
