Photo of a Grade 1 listed church founded c.1103, with much C12 structure remaining. Of Norman and Transitional style using stone, flint, and cobbles. The flying buttresses to the clerestorey are early examples of this structural technique. The funds for the building may have been sourced from the harbour taxes of that era. Church Street, Shoreham by Sea, Sussex, UK.

@mandy If you haven't discovered it yet it sounds like you would enjoy #Shoreham too, but don't tell too many people! A tidal river, a shingle bank, two Norman churches, an interesting market and too many choices for coffee.

Explored the lovely Devil's Dyke today with family. What a great bit of outdoors

Incredibly high lunchtime tide today on the #RiverAdur with the water not far off the level of the old Toll Bridge as we look east towards #Shoreham and St Nicola's church.

A very full River Adur in West Sussex looking towards Shoreham from the Lancing end of the Old Toll Bridge. A single herring gull is swimming in the water in the foreground.

The view of the old cement works north of #Shoreham on my long walk along the #RiverAdur today. I'm sure this place featured in one of the Fallout games

To paraphrase John Cleese, “This… is an ex-shark.”

(Most likely a Port Jackson shark, to be more specific, that I chanced upon while wandering the beach at Shoreham late this afternoon.)

The somewhat dried out corpse of a small shark (just over a metre long) on the beach just above the high tide line.

Some of the #Shoreham #houseboats even have gardens!

Right at the top of the tide this garden gnome standing on a post just about keeps his toes dry

#Shoreham #houseboats some of them rather stretch the definition of houseboat. And indeed that of house, and of boat.

A large barge converted into a house boat called “Rebus Stone”. The hull is black with bright red highlights. This was just about the only one out of 40 or so that looked seaworthy.Houseboat or hippy art project? A fibreglass shell at the landward end looks like giant insect eyes, and the main body is a coach, still with wheels, sitting on the deck. Alas, “extinction rebellion” insignia.A 1960s German minesweeper converted into a home. By far the biggest of all the houseboats, and now permanently stuck here as there’s no way it’s getting under the footbridge that has been built over the river a few hundred yards downstream.

Bought a second hand 42.5mm 1.7 lens for my ancient 4/3 Lumix, and this is the first try out at portrait photography. My daughter yesterday at Shoreham Beach, the same location as the previous 2 images.

I usually follow back, & love boosts.

Sideways 3/4 length image of my daughter sitting on a bench at the beach at Shoreham, wearing a brown coat and a beige beanie.

Two images taken at Shoreham Boardwalk, Sussex, UK last spring. Both handheld, same time, same camera, from the same place. One max zoom and the other max wide angle. Camera used: Canon Powershot SX50 HS with 50 X zoom, Ultra Wide Angle, 24-1200mm lens.

The wonders of:
a) modern superzoom bridge cameras
and
b) long lens distance compression.
I usually follow back, & love boosts.

Extreme telephoto image of Shoreham Boardwalk showing a couple and a dog in a very compressed image with Brighton skyline behind. Extreme wide-angle image of Shoreham Boardwalk showing wide landscape with very small Brighton skyline in the background.
