A view from the south-east of Stac Pollaidh or "Stack Polly", north of Ullapool in Wester Ross. At 2,008ft or 612m in height, this is a mountain that easily makes up in character and charm for what it lacks in stature. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/ach

Stac Pollaidh. The image shows a mountain slope descending from right to left in the foreground with a narrow road leading around it. There’s a bus on the road. Further back and on the left is a body of water and in the distance is a mountain with a jagged summit ridge extending from right to left back into the frame. The scene is in sunlight.

A wintry view of the single track road east from remote Achiltibuie, north-west of Ullapool. The prominent peaky mountain is Stac Pollaidh whose character is out of all proportion to its mere 613m or 2,009ft in height. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/ach

A wintry view of the single track road east from remote Achiltibuie. The image shows a road leading out from the centre of the bottom of the frame with a passing place sign to its left. The road disappears over a hum, leaving snowy land extending out to the start of mountains, which climb to a spiky peak in the top left of the frame and are covered in snow. The scene is in sunlight.

Stac Pollaidh, also known as Stack Polly, is in my opinion one of the most beautiful mountains, despite its modest height of around 400 meters. In October, as the sun sets, the mountain is bathed in the warm, sideways light of the setting sun, which casts a breathtaking atmosphere over the whole area.

Cycling holiday from to , via and a few days in the hills.

Bicycle laden with panniers leaning against a crash barrier at the side of the road. Hills, mountains, and a loch, at the back. Overcast and cloudy.Looking across a calm loch to a couple of hills. Rushes in the water and trees on the far shore.Bicycle laden with panniers and a wooden fish box leaning against railings, with a rocky shore and the sea behind. At the back some buildings and a few fishing boats moored. Tree lined slopes beyond.A hazy view of a coastline. Sandy beach with rocky outcrops and dunes. A spread out village behind the beach.

The stunning beauty of a highland tree in all its glory, with the peak of Stac Pollaidh in the distance. The use of infrared photography lends an ethereal quality to the image, with the leaves of the tree appearing in a ghostly white against the darker background. The soft, muted tones of the landscape create a sense of calm and serenity, while the rugged peak of Stac Pollaidh adds a touch of drama to the scene. A testament to the raw, natural beauty of the Scottish highlands.
