End of March out camping in Moab area. Story from original post.

Explored the Moab area with my new car this past weekend. This vehicle should get me to more remote places. I drove Potash Road and Shafer trails into Canyonlands as well as visited Arches NP. Unfortunately it was cloudy for most of it except for this couple hours near the beginning of the night. So no Milky Ways shots for this adventure, but I did capture this star trails while sleeping in the back of the car.

📸 Savudrija Star Trails
Savudrija lighthouse glows on the Adriatic coast, while Polaris — the North Star — shines above. This stunning composite shows star trails around the North Celestial Pole, captured through 400 stacked 30-second exposures. A perfect blend of Earth and sky in motion.

Long-exposure night photograph of Savudrija lighthouse on the Adriatic coast, with circular star trails filling the sky. The lighthouse stands illuminated near the bottom left, while the stars form concentric arcs centered around Polaris near the top center of the image. The trails create a sense of rotation, emphasizing Earth's movement. The image has a serene and mesmerizing quality, blending coastal architecture with cosmic motion.

Celestial Circles

The sun was particularly active last weekend, promising spectacular aurora with KP values of over 7. Unfortunately, the expected nighttime display failed to materialise. Instead, I swung my camera around and took 10 30-second exposures of the night sky, with the trees of a nearby road.

After combining them in Photoshop this is what you get. Not bad for 300 seconds.

Star trails form circular patterns around the celestial pole due to the Earth’s rotation, and in the Northern Hemisphere, these circles are centred on Polaris, the North Star, which barely moves at all in the sky. I wasn’t sure where Polaris was, but it looks like it’s just off the photo.

Adobe's new Adaptive Color Profile uses AI to analyze an image, adjusting color, tone, and contrast of raw images. Unlike presets, Adaptive Color Profile is not a "one size fits all." How would it work with night photography images, which are notoriously difficult for AI to interpret?

MY GREATEST MISTAKE

The truth is that
I can never turn back time
and undo that thing I did
which demolished the city of my inner world like an earthquake.

The old foundations of its toppled buildings
will always lie exposed
for passersby to spit upon their odious construction.

Perhaps if I'd had better guidance
and listened
the trembling pressure of father Earth
would have receded
enough for the old city to live on.

But now, there are plants growing in its crumbling avenues
beautiful, green, luscious plants
and if I do not believe I am worthy
I know they will wither and perish.

So I open myself to the deserved hatred of those passersby
and I listen well
and never interrupt
and I tend to the garden of my new city
and see its beauty
and feel gratitude
for the evil Earth
and the avenues it helps me build anew.
