For this week's #ArtAdventCalendar, in honour of the publication this year of my book "Dreams of Amarna", a sequence of Egyptological pieces..

This one, "Loading The Felucca", honours the modern Egyptians would did the labouring, the excavation, and the carpentry, without which the scientific work of the dig would not have been the success it became.

Pomegranates! I promised myself I wouldn’t rush through this and I haven’t, but there’s a WCA gallery show with a tree theme and the deadline is August 5th, soooooo fingers crossed! The more I worked on the #DreamsOfAmarna, the more those dreams changed.. Rather than gold and glamour, I found myself drawn to the less showy finds, stone and faience, and to the people responsible for making them, or responsible for excavating them, the archaeologists, the Guftis, the local labourers and the basket children. #LoadingTheFelucca was one of the pieces made in their honour.

Very slow progress on my embroidery project lately but I’ve finally made it to learning to needle lace. Discovered this requires a level of manual dexterity that I don’t have so curved tweezers are a godsend for manipulating the needle. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

I've spent the morning working on the violets, inserting them in their new fabric, and beginning to contrive the cascade. One of the leaves has winkled itself out of the fabric, so I'm pausing to regain calm and temper!

I was hoping to get two spots mounted today, but with pain beginning to increase, best not. Still, one is better than none, and a week ago, I couldn't have managed a single side.

I've been trying to make a #stumpwork #embroidery hamster for the past few days but I think I've got something fundamentally wrong, because this does not look like the basis of a hamster to me.

Any ideas if it looks like some other kind of #rodent instead? Should I just give up on it?
