@Doridian The above super post shows a #Meshtastic node inside a #ThinkPad #T420s #laptop and uses a #PCB designed using #EasyEDA to connect an #ESP32S3S3 with an #SX1262 chip using #USB pins of #MiniPCIe slot intended for #modem #LoRa Would allow for a #reticulum #rnode too I guess. Lovely work.

My #Thinkpad #T420s, used for browsing and youtube (research for work, entertainment during stay at hotels) had Windows 10 and didn't fulfill the requirements for Windows 11.
I wanted to replace it with #Linux for long time anyway, and the EOL of Win10 was a perfect excuse to do it now.
I installed #Xubuntu, because it is used only sporadically and only has to do the mentioned jobs.
Interestingly, the graphics driver didn't allow newer #Minecraft versions on Windows, but under Linux it works fine.
Only issue is the WiFi card (Intel Centrino) that had to be adjusted a bit - power management stuff and had to disable 11n and enable swcrypto.
Now, I don't have any Windows devices any more, except on the work laptop (which I'm not allowed to change).
PS: My main PC still happily runs #Guix.

After only 13 years, I am retiring my #Thinkpad #T420s. It did a great job over all these years and I upgraded it to the max, completely disassembled several times. But it was showing its age. I just set up my new personal device, a #FrameworkLaptop 13 DIY Edition (AMD) by @frameworkcomputer - that's a new kind of maintenance-friendly, repairable notebook. Order, delivery, assembly, setup, migration were a blast. No issues, and the installation of @manjarolinux worked out of the box. :awesome:

My current laptop is a Lenovo #t430, running #Devuan / #fluxbox. Latest laptop in a string of #ThinkPad: #t420s, #x300, #t61p.

For me, the X300/X301 was the pinnacle in terms of size, screen ratio, resolution, weight, durability. The low voltage processor just couldn't keep up with the modern world. Post #IBM, seems every Thinkpad is another run on a downward pointing ladder.

Not sure what I will do when this one dies. Man I wish the #Retro / 25th ann. didn't suck.
