Absolutely. First degree should be free. All TAFE course should be free… that’s how a govt grows society — and socio-economic activity to the national benefit … it’s a no brainer policy. One must therefore deduce it is deliberate policy to keep the population as uneducated as possible in order to derive the most profit from it… I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but looking at the evidence what can one conclude?

1. The obvious. Cost.
In Australia post secondary, non-unversity education (vocational but not only) was done by an institution called #TAFE the cost was minimal. Then neo-libs came to power and suddenly everything was for profit. Where subjects were $25 per semester they were now $500. Nice if your work pays for it, but if you're changing professions or under-employed, your screwed.
2. Remote course delivery. Outside of few legitimate cases, video course delivery is shit, absolute crap.
If you're neuro-spicy, you have to be fully, 100% focused on the screen, which is extremely exhausting. Plus, it kills socialisation.
I spend as much time making friends in college as I did studying.
3. Unpopular opinion.
Once you get older, cognitive decline is a thing.
AI helps me do shit I could only do in my youth.
Yet many folks look at AI as if it's Satan incarnate.
For older folks, AI is a cognitive wheelchair.

“The free #TAFE policy – I am sorry, it’s just not working. I am trying to be polite. But the free TAFE #policy has cost this country $1.5bn.” — #SarahHenderson
Todays #LNP / #Liberal / #Coalition policy on #Education, #Business, #Manufacturing, #Housing and message to all those who are technically competent in building, fixing and … getting💩 done.
Also a reminder the Liberals, LNP and Nationals have no Policies.

If I was a purchasing or finance officer with a finance delegation, in the Australian Education sector,, there is no way I'd buy equipment from toolsforshcools.com.au .. ever.
It seems the google search web scraper has revealed a $2000 mark up for a lathe compared to if Joe public buys the exact same item from it's importer here in Australia retail.
I'd almost bet the one being sold to education does not have all the bells and whistles either (accessories, DRO, etc..)
If you're a #Teacher, suggest you pass this on to your Manual Arts colleagues, I'd rather my Tax dollars did not go to a supplier like this . .
These same clowns were peddling Raspberry Pi's, 4b boards, for $100 more than standard retail (and that was before the pi shortage..)

“Claire ONEIL: 1.2 million homes in five years
The Minister is focused on building more and wants 1.2 million new homes in five years.
“We need to build more #homes at the affordable end of the market – that’s why we want 1.2 million homes built over #FiveYears and assist #FirstHomeBuyers.
Construction capability is very important – we’ve got to build more homes; we need to build our construction sector’s capacity, and one of the most important aspects of that is that we’re training more #tradies.
Fee-free #TAFE is now permanent. Tens of thousands of those have been people #training in #construction.”
There is no mention that I can find on housing from #Labor. The Government Minister for Housing made the above comment on 14th March in the #Melbourne #NeosKosmos.

Hearing of troubles in #WesternAustralia's trades #Appenticeship scheme.
Seems #WA #TAFE has failed to deliver the required technical training content for a 3 year apprenticeship within the 3 year timeframe.
And has not notified the #ApprenticeshipBoard of this failing.
Only notified the apprentices after the board had told the apprentices that they'd completed theur apprenticeships.
And tried BS "failed to attend".
3 years of low pay for the apprentices.
Another?
RE: Albo’s proposed YouTube ban.
I've studied & taught students from foundation to #Tafe to post-graduate. In diverse places, from homeschooling to Go8 universities. Not a single one has not involved at least one YouTube video.
Could it possibly be just another distraction to take focus off their irresponsible refusal to act on the results and recommendations of yet another senate inquiry?

#Victorian #TAFE teachers hold fourth #Strike for pay increase and lower workload
Technical and Further Education (TAFE) teachers from 12 standalone TAFE colleges in Victoria held their fourth 24-hour strike since June on Thu and rallied outside their colleges or in front of the offices of state Labor members of parliament. The Australian Education Union (AEU) has allowed negotiations with the state Labor government to drag on for more than two years.
TAFE teachers at 12 TAFES stopwork Wednesday 21 August.
AEU negotiating for 2+years on ballooning workloads, in-class assessment recognised within teaching time. TAFE teachers are paid less than school teachers – by approximately. $4500 for experienced teachers.
Union members attend the meeting at the Atheneum Theatre Melbourne then march to Vic Parliament House

Australia is ramping up apprenticeships with advanced courses equivalent to degrees, especially in clean energy and trades. This initiative, backed by $41 million, aims to double apprentice numbers and provide valuable skills.

Applying for #university vs #Tafe
The latter refuses your application and insists you do AQF level 3 first despite already completing AQF level 10 plus 20 plus years of practical experience.
What is education hierarchy?
It must be difficult to find a #University with a poorer curriculum for a #ComputerScience degree than #ECU in #Perth, #Australia. No wonder ECU is locally considered a glorified #TAFE (vocational school). I am sure there are Coding #Bootcamps that are more challenging than this programme! 🤦
