I truly don't understand why people park their cars, open the door, then spend a few minutes carefully dumping all their takeout garbage onto the ground. This pic is just one example in the parking area at my YMCA. Probably about a dozen dump sites per day so not a rare behavior at all. Beware of "compostable" products that aren't actually compostable at home. In digging through my compost pile this week I unearthed 3 forks (from takeout food I purchased several years ago) that I think were made by the California-based company, Karat Earth (aka Lollicup). On Amazon and elsewhere the sentence the company uses in marketing is "simply toss the fork into a compost bin when finished." And the forks themselves have the text, "compostable" embossed on them. On company's own website, however, is a logo from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) indicating, in a small font, that forks are "commercially compostable only," which means they only begin to break down at ~190 °F (88 °C). OMG.

I’m trying to burn my #google bridges and I realize my contacts are split between #icloud and #gmail. I exported my contacts from #takeout to a .vcf file and imported it to iCloud on the web, where all of my combined contacts are now showing.

But they aren’t all pushing to my iPhone… I’ve turned contacts on/off, force closed the Contacts app, turned my phone on/off, turned off all other contact accounts, & all combos of these. 144 unidentified contacts still won’t sync to my phone. WTF.

#Google #takeout is a joke. I tried to export my #YT subscriptions and got less than a dozen of maybe almost 100.

It took me about five months to actually get to it, but after a day of coding I think my Todoist Downloader does what it's supposed to: Download a structured and mostly complete copy of my data.

This export took about 20 minutes and around 3000 API calls because of their crappy API design.

Let me polish this a bit more and add a few progress bars tomorrow, and then I'll release it as open source.

hmmm ... so it turns out I had used #twipu to capture the "pixelstudy" quotes I had made before migrating to mastodon. But the site doesn't seem to work anymore now.

Cross-checking the tweet IDs I have in the links to twipu against the tweets.js I got from the #takeout, the latest picture present in this set would be from September 2019. Which of course is missing significant amount of picks from 2020-2024 ...
