Zeit meine #LaTeX Skills von vor 10 Jahren für ein Conference paper aufzufrischen. 2015 habe ich #TexLive + #Texstudio für wissentschaftliches Schreiben im Ingenieursbereich benutzt (also inkl Formeln + Plots). . Ist das immer noch eine vernünftige Kombination in 2025, (leider) unter #Windows? Wie schaut es mit dem #Latex Workshop Plugin für #VSCode aus, sollte ich mir das anschauen? Gab es sonst noch was im Bezug auf IDEs oder Distos in den letzten 10 Jahren, was ich mir anschauen sollte?

Time to revive my rusty #LaTeX skills from 10 years ago for a small conference paper. In 2015 I used #TexLive + #Texstudio for scientific writing in the engineering field (so some equations, some plots).
Is that still the way to go in 2025 (on #Windows unfortunately)? What about the #LaTeX Workshop Plugin for #VSCode, is it worth a look? Any other development wrt to IDEs or distributions in the last 10 years I should have a look at?

In der Bücherei habe ich mir ein #LaTeX Buch ausgeliehen. Aus der berühmten "für dummies"-Reihe, damit auch ich eine Chance habe, es zu kapieren 😉

Auf dem PC befinden sich die Programme #texmaker und #texstudio, die ich schon länger nicht mehr gestartet hatte. Als ich sie jetzt öffnete, um den Beispielen zu folgen, entdeckte ich zu meinem Entsetzen in den Einstellungen von texstudio einen Abschnitt #KI. Es ist mir egal, ob sich das deaktivieren lässt, ich will damit nicht belästigt werden. Also umgehend deinstalliert. Ehrlich, diese Plage nervt gewaltig.

Thanks to @jmairboeck for updating our TeXlive package to 2025 on Haiku! Now available for 32bit and 64bit 👍

After the update I pushed TeXstudio to version 4.8.6, on par with all! :)

Except no one here knows how to use mercurial, so there is no shared editing. My professor used to send me all edits by mail.

@ijk I started out using #TeXStudio, which worked very well and was beginner-friendly, but eventually I switched to #Emacs which is a steeper learning curve but ultimately more powerful.

Instalar #TexStudio requiere descargar 1788 paquetes en #Tumbleweed. Básicamente todo #texlive más algo de perl que he visto por ahí.

Edito: casi todo texlive. Por ejemplo texlive-moderncv no está como dependencia.

I think i'll go with #TexStudio .

Coming up at haikuports, after updating nspr and nss (by Korli), I pushed an update for poppler-24.11.0, with the "fixed" nss package poppler issue seems to have disappeared, kudos to Korli for that!
Now with all in place let's check (upcoming) TeXstudio 4.8.4. Waiting for some comments on the PR before merging, but testing it here worked out find! :)

After using #TexLatex for some time I have to say I really like it especially in combination with #texstudio.
I wish I had looked into it sooner.
Its a great #FOSS alternative to other word processors.

What do you use to write your #TexLatex documents?

With #poppler 23.09.0 packaging fixed on #HaikuOS it was time to update #TeXstudio to 4.8.1and #Xournal++ to 1.2.3, in the process added packages for #poppler 24.07.0.

On the plus side, checking the sub-packages I found out I was falling behind on #TeXstudio update, so update to 4.8.1 is on the way once this is done. ;)

I wonder if I should transition from #TeXStudio to #VSCode for my offline writing. I have been using TeXstudio for so long, the thought alone feels like cheating.

Latest #TeXstudio 4.7.3 available for 32bit and 64bit #HaikuOS (in the screenshot build was done with upcoming release for #TEXLive 2024 by @jmairboeck)
