According to latest data from Public Health Scotland, the Sandyford GIC has almost 4000 people on its waiting list and is seeing fewer than 50 first appointments per annum. That means a 80 year waiting list if no further patients are added.
The GIC model in Scotland is dead on its feet. We must move to a different model, of informed consent, and end this barbarity.
Remember that whilst trans patients are often experts in their own care, they shouldn’t have to be. Avoid placing the burden on them as your sole source of information on their healthcare needs.
