Research can inform good public policy. Or not.

A European parliamentary committee wants to ban labels that refer to ANIMAL products—such as sausage, burger, or milk—from VEGETARIAN product packaging. The reason they give: these labels cause confusion for consumers.

Research suggests otherwise. A survey of 20,000 consumers shows 96% know a "vegetarian sausage" is "a sausage without meat."

There is nothing more powerful than watching people try to use your services.

They’ll struggle with things that you never realised were difficult. They’ll stumble over language that you thought was clear. They’ll point out things that you missed because you were too close to the project. Everyone should try to observe user testing if they get the chance, especially senior managers.
