Another improvement for the integrated Video Converter in my #NeoFinder 8.9 for #macOS:
It can handle multiple selected video files in the Services menu of the Finder!

Just select some video files in the Finder, and let them be converted by NeoFinder.

I very much love that close integration into the Finder!

Error messages? Not so much fun, but important nonetheless.

So. If you try to generate a video contact sheet of a file format or codec that 8.8 currently doesn't support, you will now get a proper error message.

Sony video cameras write very interesting special metadata into MXF video files, but unfortunately, their latest firmware update has changed the specific tag they are using.

8.8 now reads that data from both locations. Enjoy!

uses the extremely powerful free ffmpeg tool to get more metadata and thumbnails out of video files when you catalog them.

NeoFinder 8.8 will now automatically discover ffmpeg installations by Homebrew.

8.8 now supports GPS GeoTags written into MOV video files by the ProCamera.app on iOS. They use a slightly incorrect ISO format that NeoFinder will now properly process for you when cataloging such video files.

Again, sometimes it's just the little things. Like the display of video file chapters in the 8.8 Inspector. We have prettified the time display, so it looks really nice now.

What do you think?

The open source "AV1" video codec ("AOMedia Video 1") is pretty cool, has amazing encoding qualities, and I am happy to report that my #NeoFinder 8.8 for #macOS adds support to catalog thumbnails and metadata of video files encoded that high-power codec!

The integrated video converter in 8.8 now has the option to specify the frames-per-second, or fps, or the resulting new video file.

A list of possible values makes it easy to chose the one you need.

Q: I use to catalog ~1 petabyte of Quicktime videos. I want to search for videos which have a certain height.
Is there a way to search that information?
