Q: I’m wondering how NeoFinder saves metadata to JPEGs. The reason for asking is that JPEGs are lossy so continually re-saving the JPEG would recompress the files and lose detail (which I don’t want to do).

A: No worries, NeoFinder will not touch the actual pixels of JPG files, the metadata is stored in the separate EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata section of the files, no pixels harmed. :-)

Another step for a faster workflow is the new ability in my #NeoFinder 9.1 for #macOS to add a unique Image ID automatically to all #photos ingested from a photo camera in the NeoFinder Image Capture tool.

Along with adding annotations, like your copyright information, but you knew that already, right? ;-)

We have just uploaded a new powerful to the for Users Guide.

It uses the XMP Location field, the XMP Location, and the EXIF Capture Date to generate a nice new Caption with that information, in a formatted way.

Based on a script we wrote for a client that was used for an exhibition.

The barcode scanning of #Audio-CDs in my #NeoFinder 9.1 for #macOS software now works with box sets containing multiple disks.
NeoFinder will create a separate catalog for each disk, and set the name of each catalog properly.

My #NeoFinder 9.1 for #macOS can now catalog #Nikon R3D video files!

These are actually really NEV format files (internally MPEG streams, but with the new video codec), but incorrectly named .r3d in the camera, which massively confuses the official #RED software.

I found a way to work around it, so you can now get thumbnails, video contact sheets, and metadata out of these files with NeoFinder, too!

I have added the ability to #NeoFinder 9.1 for #macOS to catalog thumbnails and metadata of these huge #RAW files, and to edit metadata in and regarding these files.

The integrated Multi Rename tool in 9.0 for now has ten more variables to be placed in the new names.

It is now possible to use the camera maker and model, the Image ID, multiple XMP values, and a two digit EXIF Capture Date year, and more.
