A small, healthy clump of wild violets grows directly out of the soil. The plant has deep green, heart-shaped leaves and small, five-petaled purple flowers scattered across its surface. The surrounding area is bare soil with wood chips, dry leaves, and scattered twigs.

The same violet plant has been dug up, with its root system and soil still intact in a compact ball. It sits on a beige outdoor table next to a textured concrete pot shaped like a Buddha’s head. A garden hand rake and small trowel are placed nearby.

A cropped macro photo of a honey bee on a purple wood violet, which I suppose is violet color and not purple.. The bee is facing upward, it's left side to the camera, it is a light colored bee and looks furry. The bridge of it's nose, the top of it's head, parts of the antennae, and part of a leg are in focus.

It's not terrible but it flew off before I realized I had the aperture wide open and a depth of field of a few mm and was just snapping off shots while it was there with a little handheld closer farther focusing on the ground. The fun of old manual lenses on anything digital.
