How did the last two months go in terms of my word count or publishing goals?
Not so good. But I have a new laptop all set up (okay, nearly all set up) with thrice as much space as before (3 TB! yay!).
Bonus tech support: my friend Darrell also has a new computer all set up and didn't lose any time on ebay.
I'm listening to Yellowface by R.F. Kuang (I've read it before) and it's really motivating, oddly).

Have I written a summer story/written a character who needed remedial classes? How about summer school?
I haven't written someone who needed extra help.
There are folks who change course midstream and want to graduate on time like me (I worked summers I took classes--at Cornell Dining or at the CS dept).
Others need a boost because of outside life factors.
These are good tension-adding factors.
It's a small moment, but wonder if it'll resonate.
Planning to revisit this in the next story.

It's been a good day for ideas.
If you're a writer, I'd expect one of the questions you're most often asked, from friends, family, or pretty much anyone you talk about your writing with, is "where do you get your ideas from?"
If you're anything like me, ideas are the easy part. I've been logging them for 20+ years. Most are not good enough to stand on their own, but could be combined to make a good story. Some can carry a story on their own. A few are strong enough to be the basis for an entire series.
When I finish my second fantasy trilogy, in about a month's time, I'll be returning to the protag from my first novel and taking him out for some new SF thriller adventures. I already have five stories worked up for him and his daughter. I've also outlined around a dozen horror tales, probably novella length. So at the speed I write, I have enough ideas to keep me going until I'm around 90.
What better day, then, to have 2 more great ideas for the SF guy pop into my head, each easily as good as any of the 5 I had planned. Looks like I'll now be writing 'til I'm 95 🙄

I'm timelining the final book of my second trilogy #today and I needed to know how fast the dragons will fly to make sure everyone ends up in the right place at the right time.
Well! There's almost as many answers to that as there are stories with dragons in them, but the search result that really blew my mind was this one. Hats off to Anthony, whoever he is - this level of nerdiness is really impressive.

So my second script has become known as Project Alice since she's the main character lol. It's a 2 parter surpisingly and set in both the Superstions and Appilations. Should be fun lol. The challenge I'm still having is just staying with the projects. It's scary to think about drawing a book these days. Idk why lol. Doing some preptober plotting for the newish story. I've decided to write this one For NaNoWriMo this year and working title is Muse. Not spilling the final title yet! It will be a cosmic horror or horror story. I've noticed a pattern in my planning of my more recent stories where I hit the Inciting incident straight off and then exposition followed by a 2nd inciting incident. - something to think/worry about in slow moments
- something to compare stuff to
"this is just like programming a convention, except ..."
"trying to figure this out is just like laying out Drunkard's Path for a quilt block ..."
- an excuse for having some weird equipment for another plot purpose
- something you can describe them doing!

Herzdame wollte den Plot hören, stoppte mich dann aber, weil sie nicht gespoilert werden will. Ich werte das als gutes Zeichen.
