New AnkiDroid review UI is good enough.

argh... file seems to be synchronised yet #AnkiDroid refuses to load it :(

Spend way to much time playing with improving #anki deck design =,= :D

But they are starting to look really nice!

One issue I ran into is font-awesome don't want to play nice with #AnkiDroid :(

This is annoying: I got a new phone and many of the apps that I used to use to study Ancient Egyptian are no longer available.

Sadly, this is not really an OS problem so much as there was just one person who was writing most of this code, and they appear to have just stopped updating. ☹️

Back to the limitations of flashcards, etc. (Not dissing #Ankidroid or anything, it's just I like the other tools a lot.)

Ankidroid is relentless. Back when I was failing to learn language via duolingo I was always worried missing a day would kill my streak, and so I'd frequently sneak in with 5 minutes left till midnight and do a single shameful lesson to keep the precious streak going. I was more motivated to keep the streak than to learn.

Ankidroid's like "Oh you missed a day? Fuck you, now you have twice as much to review"

"Oh you missed another day? Not too smart are you? Thats 75 cards you owe me now"

I missed a couple days and still haven't caught up, but I make sure to at least do what I can each night and chip away.

Now it's fear that motivates me to keep learning. Fear of falling deeper into anki debt.

Ich bin wieder Mal auf #Anki gestoßen und stehe vor dem Problem, gute Decks zu finden. Auf https://ankiweb.net/shared/decks gibt es zwar viele, aber Sortierung nach einer Bewertung gibt es nicht, was es schwierig macht, gute Dinge zu finden.

Wie findet ihr gute Anki-Decks oder schreibt ihr alle eure Stapel selbst?

Nach einer Woche nun ein Update zu meinem #InkPalm Plus E-Reader. TLDR: Hat sich absolut bewährt und ich habe noch ein paar Anpassungen (Apps & Lockscreen) gemacht:

📖 #KOReader ist eine tolle Leseapp und optimiert für E-Ink-Geräte. Ich nutze diese auch auf meinem „grossen“ Boox-Reader. Aber: Leider lässt sich die Schriftgrösse der Menüs nicht anpassen (nur der Buchtexte), was auf diesem kleinen Screen manchmal etwas unpraktisch ist.

🎧 #AntenaPod ist meine bevorzugte Podcast-App und läuft dank Bluetooth auch auf dem InkPalm bestens.

🗂️ #AnkiDroid für meine Anki-Flashcards läuft ebenfalls 1A.

🌐 #EinkBro als für E-Ink optimierter Browser ist sowieso ein Muss.

🧠 #Wikipedia App läuft auch, habe ich aber nicht ins #Unlauncher Menu aufgenommen, da ich die Wikipedia direkt aus KOReader heraus abfragen kann.

Generell habe ich die Schriftgrösse systemweit auf 130 % gestellt, sodass ich alles lesen kann.

Hoffentlich werden künftig noch mehr E-Ink optimierte Apps veröffentlicht.

Tein sen virheen, että ostin uudenvuoden 2023 alennuksesta vuoden tilauksen, juuri viikkoa paria ennen kuin duolingo ilmoitti ison osan sopimustyöntekijöidensä korvamisella "tekoälyllä".

Vuoteen mahtui myös opiskelemani kielen osalta huomattavia huononnuksia ja bugisuuden lisääntymistä.

Eli ihan hyvillä mielin. Pitää varmaan ottaa itseä niskasta kiinni ja miettiä miten saisin ankidroidista enemmän irti.

@vronimus_ironimus Als Open Source Software gibt es #AnkiDroid (https://f-droid.org/de/packages/com.ichi2.anki/), das gehört zum #Anki-Projekt und gibt es auch für Windows, Mac und Linux. Kann die Karten wohl auch geräteübergreifend synchronisieren, falls für dich interessant. Ist aber wegen des großen Funktionsumfangs vielleicht etwas komplexer als andere

An annoying #Google #Playstore problem has hit #AnkiDroid.

Last night, I was planning to do some reviews before going to sleep. But Ankidroid was trashed, not able to open its database in /storage/emulated/0/Kaz/AnkiDroid.

It took an hour to figure out that this is some permission that got removed (not the regular permission for the App).

The only way to get AnkiDroid working again, was to uninstall it, and install the F-Droid packaged one.

Fucking Google; give me back my hour of lost sleep.

After the recent upgrade, #AnkiDroid brings up an annoying "congratulations" dialog when no immediately scheduled cards remain in the deck. Anyone know how to disable that?

Does anyone have an #ankidroid alternative for #android that is #privacy focused? I can't believe that a simple #flashcard app completely offline is not available.
