What is prothrombin time (PTT)?
Prothrombin time is taken on a plasma sample to determine its coagulation (exogenously).
Prothrombin time is measured for the following purposes:
determining the hemorrhagic tendency associated with deficiency of coagulation factors type II, V, VII or X, monitoring anticoagulant treatment using antivitamins K, determining liver disorders associated with vitamin K deficiency.
