Normally far reaching views across the top of the common, visibility is poor as the rain is coming in.

Fuel Land Allotments, East Finchley. When Finchley Common was enclosed in the early 19th century, it was for the benefit of the large landowners. This small parcel of land was set aside, however, to rent to local farmers, and the money raised would be paid to the deserving poor for their winter fuel. By the end of the century the land had become an allotment garden (but what happened to the poor?)

Anyway, these gates, on the A1000 Great North Road, must be among the most stylish allotment gates in the country.

I've been absorbed in #crowscommoms my project with @Brynn to transition 12 acres of private land into #commonland .

The spaces that we aim to build will be #collectivelyowned and center #care and #disability

The #commoning house will include art studios, a #communitykitchen , an accessible bathroom, and dining. Connected to a network of "sleeping houses" which are spacious wood stove heated "cottages" with a bed + bath.
