Who is talking about what I'm going to call #facialcodinggate?
There's suddenly an influx of criticism of #facialcoding for #emotion research in #marketingresearch & #consumerresearch.

I feel like I've been beating that drum for years. But the new #ICO report (ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/media) seems to be driving the latest craze.

I feel people are missing the point though. It's not the tools. It's the people and their overestimation of #AI for use #emotionresearch.

I'm an #academic interested in the #marketing & #publicpolicy interface around issues of #marketplace #justice. My #consumerresearch has focused on #sustainable #consumption, #mindfulness, and the #cashlesseconomy. My research methods are largely #surveys and #experiments but, with #tenure privilege, I'm pivoting to #qualitative methods.

It amazes me to see people watching YouTube and other video content without rotating their mobile to view in widescreen.

Do they really prefer small 1/3 sized video? Rather hold device with one hand? Or are they so accustomed to holding their mobile vertically?
