Question: you're a person that use a day-first date when writing — Do you use a leading zero for days less than 10?

05 November 1955 vs 5 November 1955

Does your decision change when using the 3-letter month abbreviations?

05 Nov 1955 vs 5 Nov 1955

NOTE: all numeric dates (e.g. 5.11.1955) are not considered.

Rock the vote. Please boost for reach.

Pick two.

Celebrate the rare day when I don't have to worry about dates being month-day-year or day-month-year!

The only correct date format to use in strings or file names is
%Y%m%d because it is the only format that will sort in proper date order. You can put dashes or period in there if you want, as long as you are consistent.
Any other format will sort weird and is, therefore, more trouble than it is worth.

Edit: As many have pointed out, it's even a standard, y'all.

Edit2: replace ISO page link with Wikipedia because the ISO page requires you to buy a copy if you want to read it.

I’m happily ensconced in a lifetime relationship with my future hubs and our kiddo, but if I was making an online personal ad in 2023, it would include “must observe ISO 8601 convention on recording dates.”

For those of you scheduling/organising things with participants from the US and virtually anywhere else, please feel free to use this

The Simpsons "Don't Make Me Tap The Sign" meme with "ISO 8601 Date Format yyyy-mm-dd" on the sign.

Let's see if implements this for regarding in-game .
I guess I should've suggested as well, but I guess most players would expect the format to be displayed in their usual .

Screenshot of 'conversation' with Niantic's Support bot 'Remi':

Remi: «What feedback do you have on Pokémon GO?»

Me: «Bugreport: dates aren't localised.
Dates in-game are currently displayed using the American time format mm/dd/yyyy which just isn't suitable for international players.

For example, as my device's preferred language is set to en_GB (English, United Kingdom), I expect the dates for Pokémon caught/hatched to be displayed as dd/mm/yyyy (day-first) rather than the current mm/dd/yyyy (month-first).

IMHO this should be localised either using the player's device Locale, or preferably even through a user-customisable Locale or date format setting.»

Remi:
«Thank you for submitting this feedback. We won't be able to follow up with a personalized response, but we'll share it with our development team for review.
