I'm no particular fan of Jon Prosper, but in terms of Apple actually suing him, its kind of pathetic. Its not like iOS 26 is all that compelling a product. Jon Prosser has been do exactly what he's been doing for over a decade.

I think AOSP will eventually have to fork from Google Android, and take it into its own direction.
Google is starting their process to lock Android down and privatize it, so expect no Google Play sooner than later. That will hurt, especially if F-Droid shuts down.
But we're entering a new era, and we need to build up our own platform, and stop our reliance on Google. If AOSP isn't it, then we need to develop a "hardened" mobile LinuxOS and run Flatpaks!

This is about a platform mandating DRM, to control/manipulate revenue streams.
I think Google (and Apple) are fully capable to manage platform security without gatekeeping access to our devices. They could improve OS immutability, or better admin rights without root privileges.
As irritating as they can be, even the banks have developed secure financial platforms that still allow us to purchase WHAT we want, from WHO we want.
