I need dvd ripping software suggestions. I had one that did ok when backing up my Walking With DVDs but Cats Don’t Dance and Gay Purr-ee, it only backed up the songs. Fortunately, there are #AltStreaming sites where I can see pretty much whatever I like w/o being forced to subscribe to any of the media giants who would be happy to have a monopoly on all of their content.
I just need to learn how to download & burn #DVDs from these sites.
The software is out there but I'm just too lazy to do it yet but will when there is no other way to add the films that I want to my collection.
I have a local script and documented in my private wiki, but the basics for streaming #DVDs from #OpenBSD to #iOS on my #iPad using #VLC is:

A decade ago, I remember selling one of my iMac G3s to a young coworker. Later, he told me he had been watching #DVDs on it by #streaming them from his desktop using #VLC (it was a CD-ROM model). Ever since VLC came to #iOS, I've wondered if I could do the same.
A few days ago, after all these years, I tried most of the configurations until I found a reliable solution. I've been happily watching DVDs on my #iPad from my #OpenBSD workstation!
I went for a short bike ride around the neighbourhood this afternoon, going through a few foresty areas on the way.
At one point I stopped to look around a second hand shop and spotted lots of identical DVDs, but also found a copy of the old 80s BBC series "Edge of Darkness", which has to be worth another viewing.
Oh, and DVDs from second hand shops are absolutely the best way to consume movies and old TV series, completely without enriching revolting billionaires like those who run services like #netflix .
