A final one for #waterfallwednesday from Sligachan today 🙂Although the #fairypools get lots of attention from visitors the (usually) much quieter pools away to the North-East at Allt Dearg Mor are equally impressive with crystal clear water and the backdrop of the Cuillins.

Can't sleep so doing something useful by looking at photos of Skye 🥰 This taken in March this year, a beautiful sunny day, and our 1st visit to the Fairy Pools - perfect way to spend my birthday.
If you look carefully you might spot a rare creature - the notoriously camera-shy lesser spotted husband 😊

The Fairy Pools on Skye - chickened out and wore a wetsuit for the first time.
Then the Endrick Falls (Loup o' Fintry) in Stirlingshire.

A beautiful waterfall on Skye, about 25ft high maybe. It's surrounded by rocky walls and tumbles into a blue/green pool. There are adults and kids swimming there (my kids and I plus a couple of other people) - some wearing wetsuits, some not. As the water comes straight off the mountain above it's pretty cold. There are a whole series of pools you can swim in there.

A larger waterfall, the Endrick Falls. It's a series of waterfalls, some up to 20ft or so. Total height is 94ft. The water isn't a wild torrent in this photo - obviously not taken in winter, when it is wild! You can see trees nearby and lots of grass.

Despite economic turmoil, brexit and carousel of PMs we are privileged here in #Scotland. We have water, plenty of it. At least for now. Meanwhile…

One of my favorite locations on the Isle Of Skye are the Fairy Pools. A few little waterfalls with the Black Cullin's mountain range as backdrop provide a magical view.
It's been almost 2 years since I was there. Would love to go back there again sometime soon.

Further down Glen Brittle, towards its terminus as it pours out into Loch Brittle, you can hike up alongside less-visited rivers and their own waterfalls. Near the Glen Brittle Youth Hostel we park for a hike up the river Allt Coire Banachdich, as it pours down from the western flanks of the Black Cuillins. 300+ ft up the river this view suddenly opens up, revealing a deep and sheer gorge that the river has carved, now dropping 150+ ft as the waterfall known as Eas Mòr. A truly awe-inspiring site, especially with the western Black Cuillins above. #landscape #sunrise #autumn #fall #glenbrittle #skye #isleofskye #fairypools #scotland #nature #travel #uk #britain
