Any open source alternative for math tricks Android app?
Despite my foss journey being very young - I only started digging and liberating myself this april -, I've gotten very far and never wanna turn back anymore. All started with my turn from Youtube and the like to RSS. It still boggles my mind on how much foss software I've already relied on without knowing: VLC Mediaplayer, Firefox, LibreOffice, Gimp, Signal, Seal, Drip, …
And now, that Google aims to heighten the barrier of entry into the foss world by soon prohibiting non-gplay installations, the small world I built for myself (on my phone, ignoring my now Linux PC) seems to fade as quickly as it grew. I am certain, that if given no other choice, I will turn to another operating system like LineageOS. But for me, a big part of the fun of this foss movement, was spreading the message around to my not so tech-savvy friends. With a higher barrier of entry, they are less likely to follow - and I fear I will drift apart. I'm already alienated by people casually using big-tech spyware in their day-to-day and feel urged to comment on it.
I know I can't save everyone… But the foss movement is an increasingly important part of antifascism. How can I spread the antifascist message of foss to like-minded people who are afraid of using a terminal? How will I go about it, once (if) this foss world is shut out even more on android? (for Linux, I at least have the https://endof10.org campaign)
Ideal si tienes tu propia biblioteca musical en casa 🚀
Please 🚀. I'm going to stop short of saying you should not install the #ICEBlock app, but you should know that you're painting a giant target on your back if you use it, and it does not protect your information adequately. The Trump administration is not being coy about how they see this app and it's users, citing charges of obstruction of justice and general threats of prosecution.
The developer ignorantly insists the only way to safely use it is through iOS app store. That ignores the fact that Apple collects data on what users are installing what apps. It also ignores that the gov has been intercepting push notifications for several years now, so it would be as simple as comparing that data against those who receive push notifications at specific times to determine who is using the app.
The app is also closed-source, so the community cannot inspect it for vulnerabilities.
If they distributed through a 3rd party app store on Android, such as #fdroid (which you cannot do on iOS), they could allow users to run their own notification system using #unifiedpush. Google would not be involved at any stage.
Yes, this would be a high barrier to entry for use, but I think the usecase demands it. Almost certainly we will soon see prosecution for the apps' users and probably also removal from the App Store. Apple most certainly does not care enough to fight the government over this.
That is, unless, as I suspect, this app is actually a #honeypot.

Android FOSS calorie/food tracker app
I've been looking more and more into using free and open source apps recently. Does anybody have any recommendations for an Android phone? No particular theme, just want to know what people use.
I'm facing problem in reading a downloaded pdf file on my android phone.
Mit #CoMaps gibt es jetzt einen #Fork von #OrganicMaps und den werde ich jetzt mal ausprobieren. #app #foss #navigation #fossdroid
FOSS nerds, i request assistance.
i'm degoogling a new phone, and have trouble finding a decent note taking FOSS app.
what i need is an app that essentially acts as post-it notes. i don't want to make an account, sync, or anything less of the sort. you don't care when you lose some post-it notes, so why would i care about a note app?
only real feature i want (aside from writing plaintext) is the ability to make a checklist, and check said checklist.
#TIL about #FOSSDroid;
"... the project’s aim is to promote free and open source apps on the Android platform. Fossdroid takes its data from F-Droid and organizes the apps in an attractive Google Play-like arrangement, with the ability to view apps by what’s new / trending / most popular."
Found a neat online breakout clone with roguelite elements called Breakout 71.
You can play it in your browser here:
https://breakout.lecaro.me/
Or on itch:

There's also an android port on F-Droid:

Wrote a story about how I installed Lineage OS v21 on my phone (Motorola Defy 2021).
One day I got so tired of Google's "safety warnings" when I'm installing/updating applications from F-Droid... Also, the stock Android is taking up so much space in my flash memory with all those non-removable Google apps... So I decided to spend some time installing Lineage OS:

Uh oh, looks like Google invented a new technique to forbid Aurora Stores users to install apps from the Google Play.
Today, I see this in the Aurora Store (see pic. 1). Login to the Google account with my credential succeeds, but then I got "Could not generate AAS token" toast in the application.
Anonymous login just doesn't work with CertPathValidatorException (pic. 2).
Yesterday all works as usual, without the errors
I found it because I adore #foss, and in particular the #fossdroid sub-reddit, even the fdroid forum! Odd little fun #opensource apps are such fun to me!
Sometimes I'll just scroll through #fdroid (or in my case) #droidify and try different apps that look interesting.
But I'd say that is suffers from that same lack of users everywhere. A sad reality of a solid alternative to the establishment just not getting the numbers!
Teste gerade #Futo als #Keyboard auf dem #Smartphone und bisher macht die #App einen guten Eindruck. 👍
I wish there was a github bot that constantly creates a single issue report in every single repo that just says
"Can you add a dark theme?"
Little File Explorer: a file manager app that targets Android 1.0 and has a filesize of only 35 kb.
Really cool idea and works great, it doesn't have fancy features like thumbnails but that's the point.

I'm the "IT Expert" at my current job, and I get handed a lot of "mobile phone tasks" which is not something I am at all interested in and I don't think my time is best served spending time on them.
Anyone in a similar boat have any basic solutions?
