Australian Pelican flying, wings outstretched. It is predominantly white with black shoulders and black wing tips and trailing edge of the wing. Its large bill is a pastel pink (flesh toned).
The water is relatively still, showing reflections of the shore foliage and trees, except where there is a significant splashing from a Pacific Black Duck chasing something off-camera.

On the UQ Lake this morning there were a pair of Hardheads swimming along and occasionally diving below the surface. This one, sporting a fine array of water droplets on its back, had only just popped up from underwater a moment before.

A Hardhead sitting in the shallows, with its reflection.

It is a dark chocolatey brown duck with a white eye and a pale tip on its grey bill.

The slate grey fluff-ball that is a Dusky Moorhen chick, standing on reeds at the edge of the lake. It has an orange beek, and little orange patch on the top of its head, but is otherwise grey and fluffy.

The infamous Bin Chicken (Australian White Ibis) splashing about in the shallows washing itself. It is directly facing the camera, with its wings partly folded and away from its body such that they look like feathered arms.

A Magpie Lark (or Peewee as they are colloquially known). It is a black and white bird, and has turned its head to the right so one black eye stares at the camera.

A lone Hardhead (dark brown duck with white eyes) was swimming around on the lake yesterday. This morning though, there was a Bush Stone-curlew hiding under a bush, and some Dusky Moorhen chicks learning to forage from their parents.

There are a pair of Hardheads that have taken up residence in the lake at work.

They're a bit skittish, swimming further out in to the lake when you walk anywhere near them.

Anyway, as you can see, they have that classic dog-faced duck bill thing happening.

We went out this morning, despite the forecast for rain (which turned out to be accurate) and wandered around Enoggera Reservoir. There weren't a lot of visible birds about, but I got a few.
