I really hope apple adds a Liquid Glass style option to their #iWork apps. I mean like a Shape or Chart style, not the UI refresh (of course I want that too).

There was #iWork from #Apple, but in no way was it capable of writing scientific work (footnotes/references, bibliography), not to speak about writing unicode and Greek, Hebrew and Arab letters and manuscript abbreviations. I almost had to use #LaTeX. 😜
It was hard to get into it, but the results were extraordinary. Sometimes I just open the PDF of my first paper back then and am still amazed how beautiful all those fonts and types fit together.
When will #iWork apps be updated ?
Is Liquid Glass too impractical on office prosumer apps ?
Was experimenting with Debian on my iBook around that time, but switched to Mac OS X as it was supposed to #justwork .
Spent two entire weeks on an important document using Apple Pages.
And because of a fundamental bug with no workarounds, in the end I could not export to PDF or print or do anything useful with it.
That was the day I began to learn how to use LaTeX…
I was really hoping Apple would update its apps today

The OSes : #maxOS26, #iOS26, #ipadOS26 and so on.
Without forgetting #iWork that I use everyday.
I hope the eye work background shortcuts actions are a test, so that the other actions like adding rose to tables in numbers can be made background processes as well. #iWork #Numbers #Shortcuts #Apple
@golgaloth @mrundkvist I’ve been a #LibreOffice user from its beginning on my #Windows PC, my #Mac, and my ex-Windows PC revived with #Linux. I wrote my dissertation in using LiO. Now I probably would switch to #iWork, particularly #Numbers as it’s much more versatile but, because iWork uses walled-garden file formats instead of #ODF, it is useless for collaborating with anyone not in the Apple ecosystem. LiO, on the other hand, works on any OS and even mobile devices and tablets via #Collabora.
@Oiselarius It would certainly save a lot of trouble too. I created a custom CLI application to help me track my finances and read all the formats the iOS program I made reads and writes, as well as ODS.
However, nobody has really been able to reverse engineer the #iWork formats to be both readable and writable.
It does have plenty of details concerning their structure though.
#Apple would do well to move away from their own weird, walled garden file formats for #iWork; or rather move away from only being compatible with native iWork formats or #MSOffice365 formats and go with #ODF. #FOSS
@owainski honestly, my only problem with #iWork is that it doesn’t natively use or even import/export the #odf format. Any software needs to natively use #SI standards to be useful in this day and age, which for office/productivity software means #opendocumentformat.
@owainski I like #iWork but it’s a different UI concept than the #MSO #OpenOffice concept so it takes a bit of getting used to. I’ve been using #LiO from its beginning on both #Windows and #Linux as well as #MacOS. The cross-device integration is much better with iWork and I’ve found #Numbers to be more advanced (at least for my limited use of spreadsheets) than either Excel or Calc. But if you use LiO on your desktop or notebook and #Collabora on your tablet or mobile, w/ the Cloud, they work.
