#WIPWednesday You wouldn't think such a tiny braid would take so much work, but this took me hours. Part of the reason for the long work-time cannot be seen: it was a 12-strand braid, but 4 of the strands were removed after the braid was complete; that is part of the Cunning Plan of this braid, to make it "lacy".
Cool effect, but I am unsure whether I want to do it again.

On my way to my monthly #Kumihimo group! First one of the year. As I expected, I didn't finish my replacement carry-bag for my Marudai in time for this month's meeting, but that's okay. Off to make Japanese braids!

I changed my mind AGAIN. I'm still making a bag, but the bottom of the bag is going to be different. See, I remembered I had been intending to make a replacement carry-bag for my portable #Marudai because my current carry-bag was showing a bit of wear-and-tear. So I wanted a big solid base for it, since it will be sitting on the ground at bus stops etc. Went through my stuff, found a placemat I had bought with the intent of making it the base for a basket. The photo shows my Marudai sitting on it showing it will just fit, if I put the crochet stitches on the very edge. So I'm wrapping/sewing yarn around the edge; hopefully I can figure out a good way to use that as a base for my crochet stitches.

I won't get it finished in time for the first meeting of my #Kumihimo group this year, since it is this coming Friday. But hopefully ready for March's meeting.

My crafts of choice are... a very long list. I'm currently on a #knitting and #crochet streak, but my #crafts include #Chainmaille, #Kumihimo, #Beading, #WireWrapping, #Macrame, #FluidArt, and a bunch of other crafts that I've dabbled in over the years. Tatting defeated me, and I do not enjoy sewing, though I can do it if I have to.

Why am I joining the #FinishOrFrogAlong ? Why not? I ALWAYS have something that needs finishing, and having company along the way will be delightful.

I sew, knit, crochet, macrame and kumihimo. I understand those things.

Still, I look at Quilts and Spun yarn, and freehand Embroidery, and Amigurumi - and my brain screams 'WHAT MAGIC IS THIS!?'

What yarn / thread-craft makes your brain go 'boing' despite knowing how the fundamentals work ?

[Yes I know Amigurumi is knitting / crotchet but it's also structural sculpting which is different to flat piece or loom knitting]
