When I started building my offline period tracker, I made a controversial tech choice: Zero Cloud Dependencies.
Instead of spinning up a server to process your data, I pushed everything to the Edge (your device).
Why? Because a period tracker shouldn't need a server to calculate "Date + 28 days". That’s just an excuse to harvest data.

Why hasn't #HomeAssistant updated their Android app to #MaterialYou yet? I mean #Material3Expressive would be optimal, but at least Material You? The fact that you can do it yourself via #HACS kinda raises an eyebrow. Looking native shouldn't be an after-thought when it's almost 2026.

Je viens de voir que #RevoltChat venait de changer de logo/branding pour une image de marque autour de l'hermine (#StoatChat) à cause d'une mise en demeure ...
Et avec ça je constate la nouvelle interface, très #MaterialYou mais ça vient aussi avec son lot de bug. Déjà un long message peut masquer l'icône "envoyer" alors que son encardé peut toujours permettre de le faire.

Google idzie drogą Apple. Android 16 na siłę zmieni wygląd ikon, a deweloperzy nie będą mogli protestować
Google zamierza ostatecznie rozwiązać problem niespójnego wyglądu ekranu głównego w Androidzie.
W najnowszej wersji beta systemu Android 16 (QPR2) wprowadzono funkcję, która automatycznie „pokoloruje” ikony wszystkich aplikacji, aby pasowały do motywu wybranego przez użytkownika. Co najważniejsze, deweloperzy nie będą mogli zablokować tej zmiany.
Problem z tematycznymi ikonami, wprowadzonymi wraz z językiem projektowania Material You w Androidzie 12, polegał na ich dobrowolności. Wielu twórców aplikacji, w tym duże korporacje, przez lata ignorowało zalecenia Google, przez co na ekranach użytkowników panował wizualny chaos – część ikon dopasowywała się do tapety, a inne pozostawały w swoich standardowych kolorach. Teraz ma się to zmienić. W nowej wersji systemu opcja „Minimal” automatycznie zastosuje monochromatyczny filtr na ikonach aplikacji, które nie posiadają własnej wersji tematycznej, dopasowując je do palety kolorów systemu.
Kluczem do wprowadzenia tej zmiany jest aktualizacja regulaminu dla deweloperów w sklepie Google Play (Developer Distribution Agreement). Google wprowadziło do niego zapis, który zmusza twórców aplikacji do „udzielenia użytkownikom pozwolenia na modyfikowanie kolorów lub dostosowywanie motywów aplikacji”. Dla nowych deweloperów zmiana weszła w życie 15 września, a dla dotychczasowych zacznie obowiązywać od 15 października.
Ten ruch prawny jest dla Google zabezpieczeniem. Ikony aplikacji są często logotypami marek, a ich modyfikacja mogłaby być uznana za naruszenie wytycznych dotyczących użycia znaku towarowego. Zmieniając regulamin, firma z góry unika potencjalnych sporów prawnych z korporacjami, które mogłyby sprzeciwiać się automatycznemu dostosowywaniu wyglądu ich ikon przez system operacyjny.
Wprowadzając tę zmianę, Google podąża ścieżką wytyczoną przez Apple, które w zeszłym roku w systemie iOS 18 również wprowadziło mechanizm wymuszający tematyczny wygląd ikon. Choć automatycznie generowane ikony mogą nie zawsze wyglądać idealnie, Google ma nadzieję, że ten krok zachęci opornych deweloperów do stworzenia własnych, oficjalnych ikon dopasowanych do Material You, aby zapewnić użytkownikom jak najlepsze wrażenia wizualne.
