@Maybelline From my readings, it feels like Synapse or Conduwuit is the way to go and that Dendrite development has come to a slow crawl. I don't *know* this, but that would be my, so far, aggregated analysis.
Is Synapse the best choice for a self-hosted Matrix server? Or are there better alternatives, like Conduwuit, or others? 🤔

Nach 13 Jahren geht mein treuer Heimserver nun schrittweise in den Ruhestand.
Den gebrauchten Dual Xeon Lenovo Thinkserver hatte ich damals zu einem unschlagbaren Preis ershoppt. Seitdem war er fast ununterbrochen, mit meistens sechs virtuellen Servern am Netz. Zuletzt hatte ich alle, noch im Neuland verfügbaren RAM-Riegel für den Hobel zusammengesucht und die HDDs gegen SSDs getauscht. Das war nochmal ein riesen Performance Boost.
Aus Brandschutzüberlegungen heraus ist jetzt Schluss. Sämtliche Dienste wandern auf einen Hetzner Cloud Server + Storage Share (Nextcloud). #Hedgedoc und #pihole sind schon umgezogen. Es folgt noch der "dickste Brocken" - der #Matrix-Server mit zwei Bridges. In diesem Zuge wage ich mich an #Dendrite, statt #Synapse. Bin ja mal gespannt...

Kennt ihr das Problem, dass ihr mit keinem anderen #Matrixserver Kontakt aufnehmen könnt? ich hab hier für die Arbeit einen Matrix server aufgesetzt, der ansich für interne kommunikation soweit funktioniert, aber wenn ich versuche mit dem zu anderen usern auf anderen servern Kontakt aufzunehmen bekomme ich schlicht timeouts.
Der federationtester sagt auch, alles korrekt eingetragen.

Today in the Chronicles of Mierin struggling with Oracle Cloud Services, after another unsatisfying web chat experience, I got a phone call from a system administrator who had manually migrated my account to the proper email because their system wouldn't allow my custom domain to register and was just generally a pleasure to talk to, so at least it's not all bad experiences.

Цього тижня ми випустили Dendrite 0.9.6, який містить низку виправлень, зокрема переписаний компонент appservice:
✅ API служби додатків було оновлено для покращення продуктивності та стабільності. База даних appservice застаріла, оскільки вихідний потік roomserver тепер використовується як джерело даних.
✅ Інструмент generate-config оновлено для підтримки додаткових сценаріїв, наприклад для генерації конфігурації CI та генерування конфігураційних файлів моноліту та поліліту.
✅ Перевірку довжини імені користувача виправлено під час створення нового облікового запису.
✅ Довжина полів type, sender, state_key і room_id у подіях тепер перевіряється кількістю кодових точок, а не байтів, виправлено помилку «Cat Overflow».
✅ Виправлено сурогатну обробку UTF-16 у канонічній реалізації JSON.
✅ Умову гонки під час запуску сервера ключів виправлено.
✅ Умову гонки під час налаштування HTTP-серверів і маршрутизації під час запуску виправлено.
✅ Виправлено помилку, через яку використовувався неправильний ліміт для відкладеного завантаження учасників.
✅ Кількість push-повідомлень тепер надсилатиметься на push-шлюз.
✅ Додано відсутній індекс, що спричиняє низьку продуктивність у таблиці надсилання API синхронізації на пристрій (надано PiotrKozimor).
✅ Автентифікація подій тепер правильно перевірятиме наявність поля «творець» у подіях створення.

✅ Тепер roomserver буде правильно скасовувати відхилення раніше відхилених подій, якщо це необхідно під час повторної обробки.
✅ Покращено обробку подій м’якої помилки на вхідних даних roomserver: більше не застосовуються правила відхилення та все ще обчислюється стан перед подією, якщо це можливо.
✅ Кінцеві точки федерації /state і /state_ids тепер мають повертати правильний код помилки, якщо стан невідомий замість повернення HTTP 500.
✅ Об’єднання /подія тепер має правильно повертати викидні події замість HTTP 500.
✅ Було виправлено помилку в об’єднанні відступу, яка дозволяла нульові інтервали.
✅ Утиліта створення облікового запису більше не видаватиме помилки, якщо URL-адреса домашнього сервера закінчується косою рискою.
✅ Слід виправити регресію в /sync в 0.9.4.
