@LokiTheCat I forgot to mention that Third Reality #motion sensors #zigbee have been super easy and reliable for me. The sensor requires 2 AAA batteries. 8 mos later, mine are reporting 95% charge or higher on #PIR + #mmWave setting at 10 sec to 20 sec polling intervals. The Passive Infra Red (short to medium range) is always on and if triggered it turns on the mmWave longer range presence sensor. That saves battery life. #HomeAssistant #HomeAutomation

@lucas3d I‘m using the „Waveshare Human Micro-Motion Detection MmWave Sensor“, which should be good to detect non-moving persons.
The idea is to detect if my kid is after the first alarm ⏰ in the morning still in his bed, to trigger a second alarm 🚨
I‘m already using the „everything presence lite“ #mmWave Sensor in his room, but this one is better for zone detection and not so good for micro motion.
Second attempt at soldering the #ESP32 to the #mmWave sensor.
Everything’s holding this time — but both components ended up a bit damaged.
Luckily they are still working.

@bus_factor Some of the #mmWave (Radar) Presence sensors may be able to detect bed presence through the mattress, mounted under frame. I have not tried this yet but I’ve been planning to. The Aqara FP-1 or Aqara FP-2 are candidates, but maybe too pricey for an experiment. The Apollo MTR-1 is far less expensive and excellent for short range. It is also small and with a sturdy enclosure you could easily place it between and mattress. These sensors can pick up very small motions, even the human heartbeat (sometimes through walls). I use both Aqara (easier set up) and Apollo MTR-1 for room and zone presence detection, with #HomeAssistant for integrated automation.
