The monkeyflower varieties I have are in full bloom making the incubating moms and recently fledged baby hummingbirds very happy. #monkeyflower #BackyardBlooms #berkeleyadventures
Yellow monkeyflower, Mimulus guttatus. Native to the west coast of north America but some populations have been established in the east. Its leaves are edible and can be used as lettuce. As a medicinal plant it can be steamed and used as a treatment for chest or back soreness. Or as a treatment for wounds.

It's #MonkeyflowerMonday! This is Diplacus graniticola, the granite-crack #monkeyflower found in California. It thrives in the hot and dry granite. Left photo with #UV filter on- it has a cool "bullseye" type pattern. The leaves are sticky which is common in the genus.
Felted a #monkeyflower inspired by these adorable happy face phenotypes. Usually there’s only light scattered red dots on #Mimulus guttatus (syn. Erythranthe guttata) but some pops have a stronger red dot... and some individuals look like this!
