I probably need to either run a second mosquitto instance to allow anonymous binds or hack the maveo connect stick.
The first one requires learning docker to create a container and publish it on truenas, the latter might break a moderately expensive piece of equipment.
Not sure what to do yet.
Trying hard to trick this maveo connect stick into talking to HomeAssistant.
No third party access anymore.
App has cert-pinning I can't manage to get around.
Device speaks MQTTS, but no authentication, so can't integrate with Mosquitto.
It's some kind of Espressif device. Maybe I can read the FW?
@ben @jpmens @ralight @Friesenkiwi I know #homeassisant uses it for their #mosquitto plugin
So I wonder if they (or someone else) will fork and maintain it or move to something else.
I have been using it for my home setup (including #owntracks ) and have not had any issues.

🟢 #Proxmox VE installieren
🟢 PVE sicher konfigurieren und testen
🔵 #mosquitto als MQTT-Broker einrichten
🔵 #zigbee2mqtt als LXC aufsetzen und einrichten
🔵 VM für #homeassistant vorbereiten
⚪ Migration von Home Assistant
⚪ und so weiter ...
Hm, was mache ich hinterher eigentlich mit meinem #raspberrypi4 ??? 🧐
Made some important and much belated progress getting my new (replacement) Home Assistant installation up and running this afternoon.
The Pi 5 with boot from NVMe has been set up for a while. Today I have:
- Installed Mosquitto on the host.
- Configured separate client credentials for Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant.
- Installed Zigbee2MQTT under Docker and got it talking to Mosquitto.
- Installed Home Assistant under Docker and got it talking to Mosquitto.
Then to verify everything I added four Tradfri Zigbee network routers to the system and they showed up straight away on Home Assistant 😬
This is the breakthrough I needed to make, to be able to decommission the old service.
And this is a possible update. The command synopsis is now split up into multiple logical sections to make it easier to find related options and ignore ones you aren't interested in. As a consequence, it occupies about a full screen height.
I think it's clearer, but I'm concerned the large amount of screen use is offputting.
Any thoughts?
Throwing this question out there:
Is it possible to remap MQTT-messages from a certain IP (or user) to another one?
I only find documentation about remapping outgoing topics (bridge)
I've made a #riscv snap build of #mosquitto #mqtt available on the edge channel. If you've got a riscv device and can give it a try, please let me know if it works ok for you

No me queda claro si voy a ganar algo migrando.
Just to be extra nerdy I’ll now use the ISO 8601 week date format for the title. Good god.
It was a pretty calm first week and I made sure of it. I didn’t have any plans for New Year’s Eve and was in bed way before twelve. The first two days at work were mercifully calm as well – for most people the work year starts tomorrow, so I had some time to clean up my work computer, do a bit of maintenance in a few projects, read up on some things I had obvious knowledge gaps before and so on. (I still have those knowledge gaps but at least now they’re known unknowns.)
I finally made it to another planet in Factorio and it’s all a bit of a slog. I have to start new? Things are different? I need to be a farmer? Huh.
There are a couple of bigger (and smaller) projects on my list that I haven’t made any progress what so ever. Number one would be to actually made that list so I have something new to ignore.
I finally managed to install Mosquitto on a Raspberry Pi, now I just need to make use of it. I’ve been using OwnTracks for what feels forever to post my current location to an HTTP endpoint. But every time I have a more advanced idea what I could be doing with it, I noticed that MQTT would be probably more useful. So I guess that’s my next project.

I've started playing with #homeautomation stuff on @fedora again, not got far! So far I've:
* Gone to build Zephyr RTOS for #openthread , failed, but upgraded the cross tools to the latest binutils/GCC
* Gone to make a container for #mosquitto, failed but fixed 4 bugs for running it in a container, one in libwebsockets, and filed an upstream PR
* To run a MODBUS to MQTT app it needs a newer paho.mqtt python library and discovered I need to fix 3 other apps to upgrade it!
Total #Fail!
Hot on the heels of #MQTT celebrating 25 years this week, a huge happy 15th birthday to #mosquitto today!
Thanks to @ralight … without your inspired work, MQTT would certainly not be where it is today! :)
