Probably my most listened-to band celebrates the 30th birthday of their iconic 1995 album today: Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt. (Spiderwebs is at 220 plays in my iTunes.)
After I got my hands on it I learned about their earlier albums and I was in heaven! Nowadays, I’m quite an addict for the ’97 live concert that I can play day in and out, I love it so much 😍
If only I had never learned about Gwen’s politics; oh well, separate art and artist etc etc …
The Rift (1990) is an old underwater horror flick starring Full Metal Jacket’s R. Lee Ermey. You’d think I would have seen this one, but I’ve only caught glimpses on TV over the years. Now it’s time to sit down for a *full* serving of cheese.

Absolutely loving the chart from 1990 on Switchback.
We’ve had the Inspiral Carpets, del Amitri, Dogs d’amour, lots of 98bpm covers, and now it’s Bob Geldof doing an Irish jig.
Tigerlily was released thirty years ago. An immensely beautiful album with an opening track that is so very Natalie Merchant. And the rest of the album just keeps on giving.
Merchant’s songs are enshrined in my mind, often surfacing when I whistle a tune while biking. She produces a rhythmic atmosphere with deep roots into the innermost soul of music that is down to earth and flying high all at once. A gift.
Jagged Little Pill was released 30 years ago and has been a constant companion since. Such a gem!! Every time I listen to it, I wish I could actually sing, because I want to hit those beautiful notes and remember the witty lyrics.
The album also introduced me to hidden tracks on CDs – I only discovered Your House after many listens and was thrilled to hear more.
I’m thankful Alanis is a human with a moral compass as well!
Thirty years ago Björk released her second album «Post», an album I love dearly.
I got to know Björk through Dancer in the Dark, which I have shown at our local theatre in my role as a projectionist. I wanted more and her Debut struck a chord, while Post was a bit too harsh in places for me. But Post kept luring me back in and turned out to be a keeper.
Hyperballad, Isobel, Possibly Maybe are favourites, but it's just a great album in full, and I love albums!
Oof, yeah, well that’s yer #Leftfield’s #Leftism 30 years old. Anything I can say about this album would be considered understatement.
It’s a one off, a golden god of an album. Nothing they’ve done since holds up like this, not much else does tbh. Understatement like I said. 😆🎼🎵🎶🎹

I may be getting old, but I was young during the pinnacle of human civilization: the nineties. Man, it was a great era, when the future was looking bright and there was no worries.
But, yeah, I was more BMX, Sierra Online games, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom over LAN...
One of my housemates in the second year at university for #ThrowbackThursday today. It was a pretty grotty house we lived in but his room was an absolute tip, yet he was also a girl magnet who had no shortage of lady visitors he was perfectly okay with bringing back there.
