Sur Nieuwe Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat à Groningen/Groningue, une ancienne boucherie dont je ne sais pas grand-chose. Un peu mitigée sur la semi-modernisation de cette façade plutôt mignonne (peinture, fenêtres moches), mais tout n’est pas perdu, quand même, et une partie du charme demeure. Août 2022.

Rez de chaussée d'un immeuble en brique du premier tiers du XXe siècle à vue de nez. Un commerce mal identifié (brocante ? déco ?) y est installé, on voit des cygnes un peu kitsches dans la vitrine ainsi que des petites voitures et des plantes vertes.
L'enseigne du commerce précédent en lettres peintes un peu passées a été conservée, elle dit VLEESCHHOUWERIJ, c'est à dire boucherie. L'entourage de l'enseigne ainsi que les fenêtres modernes du premier étage dont on voit le bas sur la photo ont été peintes dans un vert-gris clair pas très joli.

An old-fashioned black and white cast iron road sign with distance and directions on it.

I found this fantastic little ghost sign today at the entrance to a tenement close on High Street in Glasgow. The tenement was built in 1901, but the phone number (Bell 976) indicates the sign dates from sometime between 1936, when the Bell Telephone Exchange opened on nearby Ingram Street, and the 1960s, when the Bell prefix was phased out in favour of the numerical ones 552 and 553.

The business was founded in 1924, and moved here in 1934, perhaps suggesting this is when the sign was painted.

Their shop is still trading at 11 Place Laiterie, 49100 Angers.
