• #OneWayHeroics for a mix between a #rogueLite and an #ActionRPG, where you play a character from various classes who has to try to outrun the darkness swallowing up the world from the left, while gearing up and leveling up to eventually face the evil villain at the end.

I wonder if OpenXCOM or UFO:Alien Invasion would be more moddable into an entirely original game project without altering the engine? 🤔 or whether it'd just make more sense to start from scratch with something like that

The style and purpose haven't changed, and it's good that there are way more games now, but it's also harder to find things. Maybe better searching and filtering are needed?

Of these original 7 games, 5 are still going strong (#OpenTTD, #CorsixTH, #fheroes2, #VCMI, #OpenXCOM) which is incredible.

Some Open X-Com here. Going into an Alien base. I re-loaded a couple times on this one, some pretty crazy stuff happened. Still took a couple casualties, but the team faired well overall. And... you can see possibly the toughest attack dog in history. Some good action in this one. #XCom #OpenXCom

A great, fully open re-implementation of the original 1994 Microprose game, X-Com: UFO defense (or UFO: Enemy Unknown in Europe).

It also nurtures a great modding community with a lot of original ideas, it's worth a try, if you want a game to play for... years.
