Age rips more out of the soil
Than the Ice Age ever did.
Constant insistent wind. Bare
Ribs of civilisation. Dour attendants
At community meetings. Ice-faced,
Not a single #optimist amongst them.

Mr. Whisker's was always an optimist. If something was happening in his world that was new or foreign, he always expected to benefit for the best. Mother had been opening the catio often because the weather was warm enough to melt the snow. Puddles formed across the bottom, and as he lapped the snow water, he once again caught sight of the orange tail of the new neighbor cat. His optimistic self was determined that they would become quick friends.

being that rare optimist
but we’ll keep our hope
