I'm trying to get a hyperpixel4 display working on RPi CM5 with #AlpineLinux 3.22 (or #pmos). While the console works on RPi OS it fails on Alpine - using identical config.txt tweaks. ๐Ÿค”

drm_rp1_dpi and rp1_pio fails to load on Alpine. From loading with insmod it seems that rp1-pio fails due to unknown symbols.

The symbols are provided by rp1.ko - but that cannot be loaded due to "module is already loaded" (which it is not โ‰๏ธ).

Now I'm stucked an weird. Any ideas?

Day 5

Uneventful. And isn't that what we want? I haven't rebooted since I have arrived. I might reboot tomorrow as #snapshot seems to be ... having some blinking screen issues. #megapixels seems to be working now though lol... I want to build megapixels 2.0... but... might need to upgrade and everyone is telling me not to...

Day 2...

So... I think I need to address the audio overflow issues I'be been having. Like, day one on #pmos on my pixel 3a I've seen random buffer overflow... I've just ignored it. While the device did get fairly warm... it wasn't more than my regular android phone would get, but I had two reboots happen in an 11hr drive. Given, audio has rebooted and frozen the phone in the past, I can't say navigating was the issue. Also, I #puremaps worked well... but obivously waze navigated a quicker route. There were a few questiobable decisions puremaps decided on routing... like getting off a highway for an exit and getting back on... While I relied on waze, puremaps would have gotten me there... reboots aside. But yes, otherwise I had #qutebrowser monotoring my work communiques. I was streaming a twitch stream (shout out to #theunexpectables) for a good chunk too... which was a little much...should have done audio only

Day 1 of daily driving my #pixel 3a with #postmarketos #sxmo on my trip

I'm not sure how I'm going to document all this... but I'm planning on using #puremaps (#osmin as back up) otherwise using a bunch of #tui apps. I wish I had tethering workinf but I think I have everthing "working"

iโ€™ve seen some people on here who use postmarketOS as their daily driver now that is has systemd. if thatโ€™s you i want to hear about your experience! iโ€™m deeply curious as it seems pmOS has matured a lot now

Waiting for the time to come. Departure is in ~1h.

The travel would have the following benefits:

  • I learn to travel by myself to another city
  • I get to know some #FOSS fans and they get to know me
  • I buy a Redmi Note 9S which supports #Linux #mainline(#pmOS) cheaper than my city. I even might find a brand new one!
  • I do a #hackathon for #MinetestCTF. Maybe this could recruit some contributors for this #luanti game. And if course the more players on the server, the more fun :)))

Perseverance pays off!

I have - after quite a lot of fiddling - got @postmarketOS booting on a OnePlus6, with full disk encryption enabled.

I am really excited to give this a try.

Rebooted after all packages were upgraded, and we are now at #postmarketOS 24.12 Plasma Edition on the #PinePhone! :flan_hurrah: #pmOS #linux

Still not sure why the time shows incorrectly even after setting it correctly manually and then enabling the auto timezone sync once "America/New York" was selected. Ah well... :flan_shrug:โ€‹

See? I told you there'd be dragons! :flan_warrior: #PinePhone #pmOS #postmarketOS #linux

The PinePhone on the phone stand to the left of the HP Stream laptop, just partially viewable in the picture with the screen still showing the SSH session with Tmux as packages continue to update. However, there is a message on the Pine phone's screen that says the screen lock is now broken and to switch to a virtual terminal, but the rest of the message is not legible since it's cut off at the left and right if the message as it's not formatted for this phone screen.

Decided to fire up my old #PinePhone and upgrade #postmarketOS Plasma Edition to the latest release as of today. Using the #Slackware laptop to SSH into it and perform the upgrade because "there be dragons." :flan_hacker: ๐Ÿ‰ #pmOS #linux #linuxmobile #mobilelinux

My HO Stream laptop running Slackware with no GUI with my PinePhone pmOS Edition smartphone to the left of the laptop, connected to the laptop via a USB cable and laying on a phone stand. The PinePhone is running Plasma Edition and Angelfish Browser is showing the page on how to perform a release upgrade in pmOS. The laptop is showing my SSH session to the phone via USB, and in that session I have Tmux running and packages are downloading via apk on the PinePhone.

Was thinking of getting a bigger #eMMC module for my #PinebookPro, but the one that was recommended was $50 for 256GiB which is a little... ridiculous.

I think I'm just going to wipe the 60GiB stock eMMC with #pmOS, fix up the loose screws, and get a 256GB microSDXC card for extra storage.

Eh, ok.

I think the FOSS Android builds deserve more credit than just being Android with a different theme. At the very least, "AOSP without Google crap plus some other niceties."

Unfortunately, there's not a lot else. I mean, yes, there's #pmOS and many other amazing projects, but given how much people live on their phones and depend on crummy things like their banking apps to work, there's not a lot of options.

It's a bad state of affairs.

If AOSP goes by the wayside, I guess I'll get a used iPhone and use it like a dumbphone. I know some folks that do that already.

I do love my FOSS Android phone, though. It's a pretty decent middle ground between privacy and "functionality."

P.S., ARM is a horrible platform. Just look at the progress of any project that tries to get a de-blobbed OS running on bare metal on any modern phone. They never make it particularly far. Even with blobs.

Out of curiosity do any of the devices support WGPU? I have tested both and and neither one seems to work even though WGPU supports GLES and they both support GLES 3 but seems like WGPU doesnt work on it even if glxgears does. I opened a ticket for FLX1 a while back but I marked it as potentially a halium based issue.

I want to see if any other device is working before i open a mobile linux ticket

I have a OnePlus 6 here. It's in perfect condition but it's not been powered up for a while. I'll go charge it up and see. It might have an old #PMOS installed but should work ? I'll message you pics shortly to see if you want it or not.
