In a better world the products and packaging one buys from a store could be returned to that store in the future. Why is it on the consumer to properly dispose of and recycle packaging and products? If this was a law these companies would be incentivized to use less material and manufacturing techniques that were recyclable. Apple takes old iPhones because they recycle the valuable components.
Eg: multi material layered chip bags. The ones with the shiny metal interior? Not recyclable. The blister packs that most products come in? Not recyclable unless PET, or PP.. Good luck finding a PP/PET recycling center if your city doesn’t have it as part of waste management.
