Un papillon vu de profil, les ailes ouvertes presque entièrement. Il est posé sur une fleur séchée au bout d'une tige surmontée de feuilles vertes à l'aspect cotonneux. Le soleil est dans son dos et fait ressortir les couleurs ainsi que les petits poils qui recouvrent son dos. La photo est lumineuse et colorée.

A red admiral butterfly in near perfect condition. The central portion of its body is brown, with a broken horseshoe of orange/ red which gives its name, black and white wingtips, clearly visible in this picture, four black eye spots at the back of half of the body and a very clearly defined pair of antennae. The green leaves on which it is resting and which provide the background belong to a nettle plant,

The second big curiosity of the day, a #RedAdmiral #Butterfly, in a very poor physical state, seen near Bawsey Drain.

A badly damaged Red Admiral butterfly (brown middle, orange/red ring with black spots at the back of the body (the damage is so extensive that only two of these are visible, both on the right hand side, when there would normally be four on each side). The legs and antennae a clearly visible.

A Red Admiral butterfly sitting on a buddleia flower overlooking Bawsey Drain, North Lynn. TRhe butterfly has a brown centre, the orange/ red band that gives it its name and black and white wing tips. The back part of the band has four black spots each side of the centre of the butterfly. The buddleia is of the pink variety (there is also a white variety), with hundreds of tiny flowers, each with a yellow/ orange spot in the centre. There is some greenery visible in the background.
