I had a GaN based power converter board with broken transistors. This is a six layer board with lots of power planes. Desoldering the GaN chips is very hard so I decided to try milling the thing off.

It worked perfectly. I milled almost down to the pads leaving a bit of the package. After the milling step a small cleanup is necessary.

1️⃣ Devs who lack direct access to end users are likely to implement misguided designs
2️⃣ Devs often learn new techniques while working, which can lead to suboptimal implementations

Both are expensive.
Only 1 is waste.

Quick TR1 hot air rework wand: if you lurk the usual Chinese resellers you may have seen this and it may have looked very, very cool. Don't. The firmware has, shall we say, *problems.* It essentially does not work at all. So yeah, learn from my stupid mistakes.
