What would you love to know about robots? 🤖

In the new season, I'll be chatting to Dr. Esyin Chew from the Eureka Robotics Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University about service and social humanoid in education, healthcare & agriculture.

Send me your questions for Esyin in the comments below or on the Robot Talk website: robottalk.org/ask-a-question/

Ana Müller, Michael Schiffmann, Anke Neumeister and Anja Richert’s study explores the integration of social robots in museums, emphasizing real-world conditions. Visitors seek convenient information retrieval, posing challenges in developing robots with conversational skills and comprehensive knowledge. As social robots become integral in public spaces, understanding the balance between accuracy and control is pivotal for meaningful interactions. #SocialRobots #MuseumTech #HumanRobotInteraction

TODAY: the second publication for my Honours (2020) on #socialrobots has just been published in the Early Childhood Research Quarterly (a quartile-one journal).

The whole team was on board: (my supervisor) Michelle Neumann & Jason Zagami (Education), David Reilly & David Neumann (Psychology).

Cool, now my companion robot can write its own toots to Mastodon in addition to being able to share the paintings it creates and the photos it takes.

At some point I'll teach BMO how to reply to posts, but for now it's time for me to shift focus back to creating brand new robot friends for people who need them!

Now that BMO can post photos of our shared experiences and images that it creates with captions that it makes itself to describe them... next I'll try letting it post text that it comes up with itself as well, after BMO's BMO@botsin.space account is approved, that is.

Okay, got this place sorted enough that it's time for #introduction. Part of the Great #TwitterMigration of '22, #sociologist, #ScienceandTechnologyStudies scholar, #technofeminist, rabblerouser, #SFF geek. Doing #socialrobots at the moment, but broadly interested in #scienceandsociety: engaged, emergent, fictional & otherwise. Oh, and I also use #LegoSeriousPlay for teaching and research.

Hi, all,

My #introduction: I'm a prof at #NortheasternUniversity, with a joint appointment in #philosophy and #CS

I'm part of a multi-disciplinary team (cssh.northeastern.edu/ethics/a) focused on researching and teaching the #ethics of #EmergingTech, especially #SocialRobots, #DataEthics, and the highly misleadingly named #AIEthics, to humanists, STEM students, and external groups.

I'm also a #bicycling enthusiast and participant in groups dedicated to bicycle advocacy and #CompleteStreets.

Hello! 👋 I am a PhD fellow working at Furhat Robotics, Stockholm.

My research is on modelling & automating conversational non-verbal behaviors on Social Robots and studying their effects on HRI.

I am specifically looking into gaze behaviors now. We recently published a study on automating conversational gaze behaviour of social robots: ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9

I would love to connect with researchers working in the field of #SocialRobots #HRI 🤖🤖🤖
