It is a pleasure to see these old Victorian infographic maps as teaching aids on water bottles and other tchotchkes, I have always been fascinated by them and their place in geologic, geographic, cartographic history…

“Nowadays, detailed maps of any corner of the Earth are available for everyone. Detailed information about any geographical object on our planet can be got in just a few seconds. But two centuries ago, life was radically different. That’s why comparative infographic maps were viral in the 19th century, which allowed people to get information about the main geographical objects of our planet.”

I'm writing a professional seminar over the holiday break on the importance of technology in the classroom, with a special focus on #3DPrinting. I attach a picture of some of the fun things we have made so far this year.
I have had some brilliant interactions on here with you fab #LawFedi folks. I would love to hear your opinions on the subject! Good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks a lot in advance!

Just something I got curious about: what concepts in #maths are generally more challenging to teach to #VisuallyImpaired students? And what #TeachingAids are available to lower those barriers?
For instance I imagine graphs and calculus might get tricky when trying to relate concepts, e.g. the slope of a curve linked with the derivative of the equation, but the student can't really see the curve in question
More on teaching: Whilst books can assist, and it is possible with much effort to learn from books alone, far more reliably it is a tutor or instructor and hands-on practice which are most useful. (See also: explicit vs. tacit knowledge.)
Self-paced book-based education, as pictured in the advertisement here, or similar equivalents such as audiobooks, taped or recorded lectures, filmstrips and video, as well as most computer-based education methods, suffer similarly. Despite some dynamic elements, they are fundamentally static, and don't read the student while the student reads them.
The more technically commplex the method, the harder it is to prepare materials, and the more technical factors detract from them.
Likewise, econnomics of production and distribution generally favour lower-quality or less-appropriate works.
