A wider, top-down view of Arsia Mons, a massive Martian volcano, captured by CNSA Tianwen-1 orbiter from an altitude of 688 km on February 7, 2022. The image prominently features the volcano’s summit caldera, surrounded by steep, circular ridges. The rugged, reddish-brown surface is dotted with smaller impact craters and scalloped depressions, likely formed by the collapse of lava tube roofs. Wispy clouds or atmospheric haze partially obscure part of the caldera, casting soft shadows.

In this zoomed-out view, more of Arsia Mons flanks and surrounding terrain are visible. To the upper right, another cloud formation. Faint, dark streaks and long fractures extend across the surface. The location is near 10.3°S latitude and 117.8°W longitude in Mars' western hemisphere. Arsia Mons is the southernmost of the Tharsis volcanoes, spanning 450 km in diameter, rising 20 km high, with a summit caldera 120 km wide

— Китайский Марсоход ”Чжунжун” нашёл доказательство существования в прошлом океанов на Марсе: он обнаружил береговую линию, оставшуюся от мелчавшего со временем океана.

Собранные данные во время миссии «Тяньвэнь-1» показывают, что древнее море могло оставить отложения горных пород на поверхности планеты около 3,5 миллиардов лет назад, согласно новому исследованию, проведенному китайскими учёными.

В 2021 году марсоход начал исследовать южную часть области Утопия Планития, большой равнины в северном полушарии Марса, которую предполагают частью древнего океана, некогда покрывавшего северные низменности планеты.

Ученые обнаружили, что южная часть Утопия Планития разделена на три области с разной глубиной, включая мелководный и глубоководный участки, что подтверждает теорию о том, что эта область когда-то была покрыта морем.

A big dust storm has been spotted on photos from #Tianwen1 near Olympus Mons. #PerseveranceRover and #Curiosity are still quite far away from this area. And they have these radio isotope generators (but #IngenuityMarsHelicopter is reliant on sunlight).

data update. Over the past week the spacecraft appears to have started a new pattern of behaviour where there is no signal (or wide data) prior to periareions seen here. I missed gathering data on the 28th.

Oddly hasn't emitted this entire pass thus far this night. It's been increasingly invisible over the last week with this night's pass showing no detected emissions. Sometimes a blank waterfall says more than a busy one... I'll share data on the weekend.

Wat is er gebeurd met de Chinese Marsrover Zhurong? Het apparaat had al weken geleden uit zijn winterslaap moeten komen, maar tot nu toe geeft de rover nog geen teken van leven. Het Chinese ruimtevaartagentschap houdt zich stil over de status van het Marswagentje.

A fortnight of ...

Based on observed data, the project team seems to prefer to lock to the spacecraft during periareion lately.
Also, many more 'no signal' times. This could be high speed data periods as I can often see hints of a wide weaker signal on the plots.

If you noticed that for the first time in 11 days 's signal vanished before periareion and reappeared immediately afterwards and was in lock. Notice how the spacecraft unlocks just prior the signal disappearing. ⬇️

Why is the 'tick' odd? Coherent lock has the ground station take over the function of providing the spacecraft with a frequency/phase reference, so either the g/s has a tick or there's something up with 's ability to properly lock...
