I never got around doing a #WinPE, instead modding #WindowsXP to be able to run it off an external USB HDD...

@HoustonDog and yes, I remember those #WinPE #hacks with rramdisk.sys to make #Windows run from #RAMdisk.

In fact, @OS1337 literally does that when booting by loading itself into #RAM...

The idea of using #ROM chips is to have something long-lasting that is designed to be read-only without mechanical parts and not trivial to fiddle with compared to #USB #flashdrives.

i have updated quite a few bios and some are tougher than these new(er) pc - it looks straightforward - need to boot a win box - don't have one #winpe
