Finished up the Real-time Clock module and the ESP-8266 Wifi module. The only uncomfortable part was getting the ESP board soldered to the surface mount pads. Managed to get it done, but it was a bit finicky, and not super clean 😬

Good news is the clock module works and the #RC2014 now knows what date/time it is ⌚, and I was able to login to the web admin interface on the Wifi module to configure it 🛜 🍻

Assembled the CF card module for #RC2014, but on boot up the system hung while trying to probe it until timing out and continuing to the ROM boot prompt. With help and suggestions from Spencer and others on the rc2014 forum, I was able to use a multimeter to probe all the CF pins and found one that didn't have a connection. A careful application of the iron to the surface mount for that pin reflowed the solder and made a good weld. Rebooted and all's good. 🫡

Finished the SIO/2 module and installed it in the #RC2014. Plugged in a USB-serial cable between it and a laptop and powered it up. Used the "screen" program in Linux to connect to the serial port and voila! Successful boot into ROM 🍻

Made good progress on the #RC2014 Zed Pro Pride kit yesterday. Got the Z80 CPU, 512K ROM/RAM, and RTC modules assembled and inserted into the backplane. 😎

Next is the SIO/2 module and once that's done I can plug in a serial cable, power up, and cross my fingers that I get a successful boot. 🤞

I love to work with young, motivated talents.
Two of my engineers were asked to elaborate RH HA on #LinuxonZ. The outcome is awesome.

They created a compelling paper with hints and tricks and practical examples to help you configure and use the Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability Add-on. Clusters on #lpar #kvm #zVM are covered as well as the use-case to make infrastructure for Red Hat #OpenShift Container Platform highly available.
