The "developer preview" image of #RedHat's RHEL10 which was announced at Red Hat summit earlier this month is now available as a free (with registration) download for the #sifive HiFive P550 Premier #riscv board.
If you have one of those boards, head over to developers.redhat.com/products now to grab your copy and try it out.
Amazing work by everyone involved who made this possible!

Okay, sometimes my brain tricks me, when it's tired

I reinstalled my web-server with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 10, a week ago. It was previously running on CentOS Stream 9.

Now I tried to connect the system to my Red Hat Satellite instance, to include it into my centralized patch-management.

But no matter, what I tried, the repositories "BaseOS" and "Appstream" always showed "Disabled" in the Satellite UI and on the server they didn't show up in /etc/yum.repos.d and in dnf repolist ...

Long story short:
# lscpu | grep -i arch
Architecture: aarch64

Of course, it's an ARM server, duh! And my Satellite/Foreman server only has the repositories for x86_64 synced.

This relaly should not have taken me *that* long to figure out

Anybody from here? The 10 RPM emacs-nw still seems to require Gtk.

Is it just me or is it extremely painful to move from #Fedora to #RHEL #RedHat ? My script for setting up my dev environment keeps breaking because RHEL seems to not have packages for… anything… even stuff that Red Hat documentation seems to imply is standard? No Ruby, tmux, or docker packages…

#AlmaLinux10.0 Stable Released - Unlike #RHEL10, It Continues Supporting x86-64-v2 CPUs
While upstream #RedHat #EnterpriseLinux 10 raised their x86_64 baseline to the x86-64-v3 micro-architecture feature level, #AlmaLinux 10 has decided to continue offering x86-64-v2 support. With continuing to retain x86-64-v2 support, Intel #Nehalem / #Silvermont and AMD Bulldozer / Jaguar era processors

AlmaLinux 10 Purple Lion est là.

Remarque : J'avais téléchargé l'iso sur DistroWatch -> AlmaLinux10 V2.

#RedHat #Ansible and #HashiCorp #Terraform Will Be Coming Together
While no hard plans were revealed at #RedHatSummit, it's clear Red Hat's #DevOps and HashiCorp's #IaC programs will end up working together.
After #IBM’s acquisition of HashiCorp was completed in February 2025, IBM was poised to deliver a tightly integrated, end-to-end automation setup for enterprises navigating increasingly complex cloud environments.
Terraform has 33.48% marketshare, Ansible, at 31.66%.

Although this isn't really a surprise and it will probably be totally fine, my visceral gut reaction is "This feels wrong and I don't like it".

Shameless plug: I heard from a friend that #RedHat is sending somebody (hopefully a developer ;) to the Hackathon in Paris, yay!

While posting this, @fedora @jwf @Larvitz @dependencyhell @maxamillion @myfear @terrytangyuan @holly_cummins , I started to wonder why I cannot at-mention #RedHat , BTW?

AlmaLinux 10 follows RHEL 10!

Following the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, AlmaLinux have followed the lead by releasing the newer version based on that version of RHEL, called AlmaLinux 10 “Purple Lion.” It utilizes the infrastructure of Red Hat Enterprise Linux to give you a popular community Linux OS alternative. Now, AlmaLinux is more secure and powerful with the latest packages on the way.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 requires your processor to be at the x86_64-v3 baseline, but AlmaLinux 10 doesn’t seem to require this baseline. Those who have an old PC with at least an x86_64-v2 processor can use AlmaLinux 10.

AlmaLinux 10 is fully compatible with RHEL 10, which is good news. Additionally, ARM computers can now enjoy UEFI Secure Boot, which makes your computer more secure. You can still use SPICE in this version of AlmaLinux, despite RHEL 9 deprecating it.

For developers, you can now use AlmaLinux 10 with frame pointers to improve your software development experience, especially when it comes to application debugging and diagnosis. You can now profile the application performance in real time to find performance bottlenecks in any workload.

More devices have been supported in AlmaLinux 10, which went unsupported in RHEL 10. Anyone with such devices can now use this version of AlmaLinux to continue using those devices.

Are you excited for AlmaLinux 10? Download it now!
