In the middle of an international crisis over #Greenland, #Starmer has quietly without fanfare released the Joint Intelligence Committee / Defra report on
'GLOBAL BIODIVERSITY LOSS, ECOSYSTEM COLLAPSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY' that his government suppressed last October.

Don’t let it be buried. Please share!

‘Ecosystem degradation is occurring across all regions. Every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse.’

A Year in Books 2025

I'd love to travel to places far and wide, but at my age I realize it's not going to happen, so I let reading take me around the world. My favorite is the first person memoir of treks through remote areas, learning about distant people and their histories. In 2025 I "traveled" through Asia, Mexico, South America, USA, Africa, and New Zealand.

I lost a friend over my article about the murder of Renee Nicole Good.

He was angry I called out the underlying misogyny.

He was mad I didn’t give ICE the benefit of the doubt.

He made it personal.

He told me my “stupid clown hair” is why people don’t take me seriously

Everything he said to me was dripping with disdain and misogyny.

There was no debate.

There was no respectful disagreement.

In under five minutes he had attacked my intelligence, my politics, my appearance and my writing.

This is not normal behaviour.

He literally proved my point.

Had I taken the bait I’m convinced that I would have been called a “f*cking b*tch” by the end of the conversation.

This is what MAGA is doing to men.

It’s emboldening them.

It’s validating their bigotry.

I assume this person was always hateful and misogynistic on some level
but now he no longer feels he has to hide it.

He literally said as much.

He said “I never told you in the past because I wasn’t allowed. Now I am.”

Why is he allowed to tell me now??

Why does he feel justified in lashing out with rage and insults over something that has nothing to do with him?

It’s because of what happened to Renee Nicole Good.

We all watched a woman get shot in broad daylight and there’s been zero consequences

We’ve watched rapists, pedophiles and abusers go free for years.

Every woman who’s ever experienced abuse knew exactly what Jonathan Ross meant when he said “f*cking b*tch”

He didn’t fear for his life.

He was enraged she didn’t fear for hers.

My friend was enraged I dare speak out for a “lesbian leftist”.

He was enraged I didn’t remain silent, complicit and demure.

He was apparently also enraged I didn’t realize he hated my hair and change it to please him.

Make no mistake, there is a war against women going on.

This regime wants to make us “less than”.

They want us afraid.

They want us in the home serving our husbands and having children.

They want us seen and not heard.

They don’t want us resisting.

Which is why we must keep speaking out.

We must refuse to go back.

My life is better off without this person in it, and thankfully I can walk away.

Not everyone can.

Speak up if you see someone being hurt.

Protect your friends and neighbours.

Challenge misogynistic talking points.

Demand justice for Renee Nicole Good.

Don’t cower. Don’t be afraid. Don’t give up.

There's a lot of chatter here in Minneapolis about a far-right group staging a hate rally / “march” / attack on Saturday — and a lot of confusion about what the targeted community is asking in response.

If you want to rush in and play hero, STOP.

If you heard “don't go downtown, don't do anything,” also STOP.

The targeted community has a specific and nuanced request for us all. The information here is the best summary I've heard. Please take a moment to read.

The nice thing that happened in class today:

Grade 5 students solve a puzzle where they put cuneiform numbers in order (there is no guidance, just work with the symbols, how do you order them?)

I told them they are like archeologists cracking a code. They did it!

"But where is zero?"
"It wasn't invented yet." I said this seriously. I mean ... it's true.

Later that day the same student asked if it was a joke. I got to tell them no! Zero had to be invented. Everything had to be invented!

Agatha Christie as a young woman

Unknown author - The Christie Archive Trust

The image captures Christie leaning out of a window with decorative latticed or diamond-patterned glass panes. She is photographed from roughly chest level up, positioned in the window frame.

Christie appears youthful creating volume on top of her head. She wears a distinctive outfit featuring a striped blouse with bold vertical stripes, paired with what appears to be a polka-dotted. A decorative handkerchief or lace detail is visible near her collar area.

Four stars:

The Time Hop Coffee Shop by Phaedra Patrick (2025) isn't really a time travel or even time loop story. Instead it's more of an isekai involving coffee. Greta Perks has regrets about how her post Maple Gold Coffee commercial career has gone, in that it has tanked. Her home life isn't going well either and she wants more than anything to relive those glory days.

@crocodilu There's a car in front of her that's blocking the lane. Who does that being to? ICE? If so, they boxed her in. Good's wife isn't "antagonizing" the officer, she's engaged in good old-fashioned American banter. The agents are giving Renee Good conflicting orders. One appears to be pointing toward the street, as if to suggest she move her car, then the other reaches her car and pulls on the door handle. More videos are needed to complete this story.

My orange harvest is done. My trees had 2,000 oranges, now there are only a few. There are 1,407 oranges on my front porch and I've already given away more than 500. Turning my attention to processing the oranges. Tis the season to be squeezing ...

1,400 oranges consisting of a large number of double-bagged shopping bags, each with 3 dozen oranges. My orange trees with no oranges visible. That is amazing considering the fact that a few weeks ago there were 2,000 oranges up there. My orange trees a few weeks ago, festooned with oranges.
