totally.. the whole church is, with its circular shape and being carved right out of the base rock.

For #windowfriday I chose to dig out something from the archive, shot with my beloved Fuji X10 travel camera.

This is a detail from the "Temppeliaukio" / Rock Church in #Helsinki, featuring two major topics in Finnish design/architecture: Light (because it exists in extremes in the far north) and metal, in this case copper.

This door is one of the side doors from the Collegio di Spagna - part of the University of Bologna and operational since the 14th century. It is a college for Spanish Students and it is the oldest in the world open to foreign students. (More on this cool building later!)
I spent more time on this than I care to admit and how I arrived at this magnum opus/possible cry for help has been surprising - even for me. 😂 I would love your opinions on in the comments!

Ice in the Ocean in Diamond Beach, Iceland

Diamond Beach, or Jökulsárlón Beach, is a stunning natural wonder located near the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. This unique beach gets its name from the sparkling ice chunks that wash ashore from the lagoon, resembling diamonds scattered across the black volcanic sand. The contrast of the crystalline ice against the dark sand creates a breathtaking visual spectacle.
The icebergs that make their way to Diamond Beach are remnants of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, which calves into the lagoon, producing large chunks of ice that float before eventually drifting out to sea. Some of these icebergs are small, while others can be quite large, and they often take on fascinating shapes as they erode over time in the ocean.
The beach is especially enchanting during sunrise and sunset when the light casts a warm glow on the ice and sand. Wildlife enthusiasts might also spot seals swimming in the nearby lagoon or seabirds soaring above.
