If you are a Richmond resident & are undocumented I highly encourage you to visit the city hall office to ask for information on how to obtain a Richmond resident ID card, you are able to obtain one regardless of citizenship status. Richmond officials are highly encouraging Richmond residents to obtain one in the event ICE stops them they can use their Richmond Resident ID card. This ID card doesn’t guarantee that you won'’t be detained but it’s a better alternative to show ICE agents over a foreign ID or no ID. As I get more information I will share it with you.

Please Read!!

I was part of a meeting yesterday which included local/ state officials, local Bay Area organizations in speaking about what's happening in LA w/ ICE.

Alameda county officials warned that what’s happening in LA is bound to happen in the Bay Area particularly targeting Sanctuary Cities. If you or your family is undocumented please stay home for the next few days and limit your outings. ICE sightings have occurred primarily in San Jose but they’re making their way up to the East Bay. Cities on the priority list to be targeted by ICE are San Jose, Oakland, Hayward, SF, Richmond, San Pablo. Please have a plan with your family & be prepared.

A pair of six-spotted tiger beetles (suggests an ID app) having a go yesterday along Clear Creek Trail in Coralville, Iowa.

EExtreme closeup photo of a pair of mating beetles (likely six-spotted tiger beetles) on sandy soil. One beetle is on the other's back and both are facing up and to the left with their bodies behind them. This species has a metallic green exoskeleton and typically has small spots at particular locations on its wing covers but they aren't visible in this photo (or this is another species of tiger beetle). They have oblong bodies with long abdomens covered in large wing covers, a plated thorax, and a smaller head with two large, black, compound eyes and two, long, segmented metallic green antennae. This species has six, black, segmented legs that have blue markings on the segment closest to its body.

I think I've seen a bot that adds #AltText in a reply on someone else's feed. Is that right, and if so, can someone point me to it? Do I just tag some profile?

Monogram Lake Trail in North Cascades National Park (quite a grunt at 10 miles R/T, 4,700 feet of gain), for .

Photo showing an alpine lake at the base of a mountain in the distance, and a dirt trail leading to it through brilliant green meadows crazy with yellow, white and blue wildflowers. Beyond on the horizon is a ridge of snowy mountains.

Soft focus ain't my forte. I typically go for the sharpest photo/lowest grain given the location.

Yesterday I had a happy accident👇 that's soft but also a bit abstract 👍. This is my 1st encounter w/ an Eastern wood pewee. More 📷 to follow.

#StormHour #abstract #wildlife #Photography #AltText

Soft focus photograph of an eastern wood pewee flying directly at the camera with out of focus twigs and green foliage in the background. The pewee has just launched itself from a horizontal branch just behind it. The bird is blurry though large features such as its head, its fanned out wings frozen in a down-stroke, its back, and its its tail splayed behind it are discernible. Pewees are grey but the shadows it's flying through as well the brighter green foliage in the background gives the bird a brown silhouette. The only thing in sharp focus is the horizontal branch the bird launched itself from.

Not a lot to say. Warm day, so basking in the a/c. Got work done, and mainly been smashing stuff because I'm still in my 'Dysmantle' phase, ha ha.

Past that, doing the disability pride flag heart for the 1" hoop. It's most of the way there in the stitching, because hey, so smol. I had to rework the design a few times before it felt right... working with diagonals in cross-stitch is a bit fiddly. But I think it looks almost as good as its big sibling version, so.

Nothing on the books for the weekend either per se... I might do some further cross-stitch stuff. I was thinking that if I did the UK flag as a heart, that might catch some interest at fayres. We'll see if my brain has the juice to be creative, heh. I'm still running high fatigue/weakness, so.

Our princess cat, October. She is white with tabby patches, and she is pictured here rolling around on a light brown cat tree. Her eyes are mainly closed, and she looks very pleased with herself.

@nihilistic_capybara I don't know what they expect. Also, I hardly ever get any feedback for my image descriptions unless I explicitly ask someone for it.

But I've actually asked blind or visually-impaired users a few times, and in the few occasions that they actually answered, they said that this amount of description is okay.

After all, the limitations in navigating alt-text with a screen reader only apply to actual alt-text "underneath" an image. They do not apply to image descriptions in the post which can be navigated like the rest of the post text.

Virginia is my homeland and I get to bring a little piece of it back to Florida with me. My parents had me while they were students at Virginia Tech, just 45 mins away from where the conference was held.

As fun as it had been to access so easily in the environment here, it’s only possible because about a foot of top soil has been lost to farming, deforestation, etc. Also, the labor of the enslaved is baked into each clay brick in the buildings on Hollins campus. (Lots of .)

I thought it would be interesting for conference attendees to experience the immediacy of using the clay beneath our very feet to create a small batch of terra sigillata, similar to what ancient Romans used on their pottery. The clay was collected from already-disturbed sites on the university campus, dug up by burrowing animals. We also collected clay from a nearby construction site.

The photograph is square, shot from above and shows two objects, closeup, lying side by side on sidewalk cement. There is a yellowish tan dry clay sample on the right and on the left a ceramic test tile brushed with terra sigillata made from the same clay. It is a common, but beautifully iron-rich color with a soft, satin sheen. The test tile is rounded at the top and has a bit of stamped texture.A conference attendee brought me a small bag of clay from her backyard. She happens to live on top of a micaceous clay deposit! I did not know we had micaceous clay in Virginia, as it is not celebrated here in the same way it is in the US Southwest.

The photo is a square closeup shot of three small piece of dry clay piled together. The clay is brighter and a it more orange than the Hollins campus clay and is dotted with metallic specks that can be seen best if you zoom in. The clay sample lies on top of sidewalk cement. I collected a small amount of clay from the bank of a duck pond I used to visit when I was small. I moved away from Blacksburg at the age of five, after completing kindergarten. So I spent my toddler years at this pond on the Virginia Tech campus, feeding the ducks and geese stale bread. Returning to that place after decades brought back a flood of emotions.

This is the only wet clay sample I collected. It is probably quite similar to the Hollins campus clay and, if I use it, will probably give me similar results. So I only collected it for sentimental reasons.

The photo is a square closeup, and my hand is holding the wet clay sample in front of a green bush. The clay itself is yellowish with a hint of orange and light gray streaks of organic matter.

My native purple poppy mallow (Callirhoe involucrata) is starting pop. Keeps over-flowing the bed & the driveway so I have to cut it back a lot but it responds well to pruning. Proud to say I started it from seed 3 yrs ago.

Warum?

1. Ematurga atomaria; eng: Common heath, swe: Ängsmätare (male).

2. Agriades optilete; eng: Cranberry blue, swe: Violett blåvinge (not 100% sure of this since this family of butterflies are very much alike).

Read #AltText for a description of the images.
A sunny picture of a brown and yellow-beige speckled moth with feather-like antennas and with a thin border around the edge of the wing with small dark and light squares. The body is short, hairy and thicker at the head and tapers significantly after half. It sits approximately in the middle of the picture, high up on a thin vertical blade of grass and next to it on the left is an ear of some kind of grass. The background is blurred but with a little structure here and there.A picture of a deep blue butterfly with a blue hairy body where the wings slightly shifting colour towards grey between the bright blue "veins". The antennae are striped in black and white and a black border with a white outer edge follows the wings around. The butterfly sits in the middle of the picture, on some kind of purple pea flower. In the somewhat messy background, blurred blades of grass and dry ground that go in reddish-brown tones are visible.
