My journey to a kernel for on Buildroot continues!

Many failed experiments with different kernel/RT patch combos (6.18, 6.12, 6.1), but learning a ton about patching & Buildroot quirks. Still stuck on enabling CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT, but feeling closer to the breakthrough!

My portable is ready for more. 🤓

Tired of my old dedicated i5 taking 2 hours for a single build, I moved the whole development environment to my powerful i7 machine (running Windows, but using OS Live on USB).

After installing the essential packages, the compilation time dropped to just 30 minutes! 🚀 That's a huge boost in efficiency!

Tested Mullvad Browser through ProxyChains4 (SOCKS4/5 → Tor → NordVPN) on BashLab OS.

The VPN IP stayed visible, seems Mullvad Browser may bypass ProxyChains’ LD_PRELOAD layer. Not fully confirmed, but consistent.

Firefox, instead, shows no IP leaks.

⚠️ Avoid using Mullvad Browser behind ProxyChains4 on BashLab OS.

I’m truly honored to see OS featured by .watch, the most authoritative online magazine in the field 🥹

BashLab is crafted for everyday use with XFCE, essential apps, and privacy tools out of the box, lightweight, fast, and secure under 2 GB.

BashLab OS and BashCore use the same stealth philosophy as Tor and Mullvad Browser.

No logos, no splash screens, no visual fingerprint. They look like Debian. They aren’t. That’s the point.

Mimetism at the OS level.

Privacy starts before the browser even launches.

Testing BashLab OS: Debian 13.1 (kernel 6.12) based live system for everyday use.

Minimal toolkit with Mullvad Browser, Tor Browser, Tor, Proxychains4, Gparted, Vim, Gimp, VLC, LibreOffice, Filezilla, Thunar etc.

First distro shipping Mullvad Browser preinstalled 👊

Secure, privacy-focused, no bloat, simple enough for non-experts.

for BashCore and BashCoreX... too slow 🐌, too unstable 💥, too risky ⚠️, and honestly... too much pain 🤕

I installed pure Debian with persistence on USB, but every time I created a new live ISO, it just never worked 💀

Making changes? Took 1.5 to 2 hours ⏳ each time… just to get another broken result 🤦

So, until I get a new computer 🖥️, I’m switching to my old Windows 11 PC (yeah, I know…) and working through

Might be faster, more stable, and way less frustrating.

Welcome to BashLab: simple and functional. A desk, a laptop, a power outlet, a Wi-Fi router, a timer to save the battery, a mouse, and a couple of USB sticks. Just what’s needed to build the future of BashCore!

After a week of testing and failures (in my limited free time), BashLab has finally created the first working copy! It's not yet complete with all BashCore tools, but it's a big step forward! Hurrah!

Testing on continues—so far, just 😅

Had to switch to a 128GB USB stick since 32GB wasn’t enough. Still using the 32GB for basic tests, but once everything is set, I’ll move to the 128GB 💪
